Atlanta Hawks faced New York Knicks at State Farm Arena, Atlanta for game 3 of Playoffs round 1.
Both the teams entered the court with a win each under their belt and intending to take the lead.
In the end, Atlanta Hawks defeated the Knicks 105-94, taking the series lead over the Knicks.
Trae Young’s amazing performance led the Hawks to the win. He made 14 assists in the game and record more than 30 assists in his first three career playoff games.
On the other hand, Derrick Rose led the Knicks on the scoreboard.
The Hawks dominating performance in the second quarter led them to the win at the end of the game.
The Knicks took the lead in the first quarter.
John Collins started the quarter with a floater on Trae Young’s pass. Then the Knicks tied the game with 9:31 remaining in the quarter.
Derrick Rose hits a mid-range jumper to take the lead. Young dropped a layup subsequently tying the game again.
Rose misses a shot but gets back the ball to drop a layup. Young answer back with a bucket on the other end drawing a foul.
Taj Gibson dropped a bucket on Rose’s pass. De’Andre Hunter hits a jumper after getting blocked at the rim before.
But Rose quickly answered back with a bucket. John Collins then dropped a floater tying the game at 6:42 remaining on the clock.
RJ Barett’s dime to Taj Gibson gave another bucket to the Knicks, taking the lead. But then Hunter drops a layup tying the game again.
Rose dropped a three-pointer giving the lead and Young’s pass to Clint Capella leads to a dunk for the Hawks.
Dallin Gallinari dropped a three-pointer on Kevin Hunter’s pass giving the Hawks lead. But the Knicks tied the game again with 4:16 remaining in the quarter.
Subsequently, Hueter dropped a three-pointer on Gallinari’s pass giving the Hawks lead again.

Rose then dropped a bucket on the other side.
They have tied again at 21-21 with 2:16 remaining on the clock. Then Young dropped a three-pointer after that.

As a result, Gallinari dropped a three-pointer on the other side.
They were 28-29 with 1.1 seconds left on the clock as Julius Randle dropped a three-pointer at the buzzer, ending the quarter 31-29.
The Hawks dominated in the second quarter.
The Knicks started the quarter with a bucket extending the lead to four points and then Gallinari dropped a three-pointer on the next possession.
Lou Williams then dropped a floater to take the lead for the Hawks. However, Immanuel Quickley then draws a foul dropping a basket taking the lead right back.
Subsequently, Williams dropped a fadeaway jumper to take the lead.
They were all tied up at 36-36 with 7:24 remaining in the quarter. Alec Burks then dropped a three-pointer to give the lead to the knicks.
Williams then dropped a floater and Young dropped a three-pointer right after that giving the Hawks the lead with about five minutes left in the quarter.

Young’s alley-oop to Collins gave another bucket for the Hawks. Capella tipped off Collins’ miss leading to a 9-0 run.
Then Reggie Bullock dropped a three-pointer and Collins answered back with a three-pointer of his own on Young’s pass.
Young then dropped a jumper extending the lead to eight points with three minutes remaining on the quarter.
He comes up with another assist for Capella who made a dunk subsequently as a result the Hawks take a ten-point lead over the Knicks with 1:27 remaining.
Bogdan Bogdanovic dropped a three-pointer on another assist from Young. Hunter also dropped a three-pointer to give 16 point lead with 26.9 seconds remaining.
Rose then dropped a layup, ending the quarter 44-58 with the Hawks in the lead.
The Hawks continue to dominate in the third quarter.
Collins dropped a three-pointer on Hunter’s pass to start the quarter for the Hawks. Rose then dropped a jumper subsequently.
Barett made a three-pointer leading to a 5-0 run but then Young lob to Capela gave another bucket to the Hawks.
Bullock drilled another three-pointer on Randle’s pass. Subsequently, Hunter dropped a jumper.
And Young come up with a bucket after that, giving the Hawks 16 point lead.
Rose answered back with a three-pointer and Young come up with a bucket on the other side.
While Rose dropped floater on the next possession.
Hunter dropped a jumper. Young lob to Collins give another bucket and Bogdanovic dropped a layup all leading to a 6-2 run.
Noel dropped a dunk on Randle’s pass leading to a 4-0 run.
Bogdanovic answered back with a three-pointer on Huerter’s pass. Randle then dropped a three-pointer on the next possession.
Bogdanovic dropped one-handed a jumper afterward. He comes up with another bucket on his own miss.
Huerter dropped a three-pointer on Williams’ pass with 31.2 seconds remaining.

The quarter ended 72-86 with the Hawks taking a 14 point lead.
The Hawks took the win in the fourth quarter.
Bogdanovic dropped a three-pointer to start the fourth quarter. Quickly answered back with a jumper.
Elfrid Payton dropped another bucket from behind the arc for the Hawks. Rose answered back with a layup.
He dropped another floater again on the next possession. Young banked a jumper next.

Rose’s assist to Obadiah Toppin gives another bucket to the Knicks.
Gallinari dropped a three-pointer on Hunter’s pass 17 points lead about halfway in the quarter.
Gibson blocked Collins leading to Toppin’s basket on Burks’ pass.
Rose drove straight to the basket dropping a jumper, also drawing a foul.
Bogdanovic answered with a three-pointer on Young’s pass.
The Hawks reached 100-87 with about four minutes remaining in the quarter.
Youngs pass to Collins and Collins alley-oop to Capela for the bucket extend the lead to 15 points with 3:32 remaining in the quarter.
Bullock then dropped a jumper on Rose’s pass but Capela answered back again with a dunk on Collins’ pass.

Barett fadeaway on Randle’s miss three-pointer gave a bucket to the Knicks.
Rose subsequently dropped a three-pointer with about 31.4 seconds remaining in the final quarter.
The quarter ended with the Hawks taking the final win 105-94 and taking the series lead over the Knicks.
Trae Young with an amazing performance.
The Hawks dominated the Knicks from the second quarter with an amazing performance from almost every player from the team.
But one of the key players of the game was Trae Young who dropped amazing shots and showed great playmaking ability for the win over the Knicks.
Young was at his best in the first half when he had 10 assists and zero turnovers in a half for the first time in his career.
Hawks coach Nate McMillan said, “Young needed to take advantage of what the Knicks gave him, and he did just that.”
“When they are collapsing in the paint as New York’s defense does, the perimeter is open,” McMillan said. “He has to find those guys and get the ball to the shooters. If they stay on the perimeter, then he has the ability to attack the big in the paint.
“It’s making reads and making sure that he takes care of the ball. He only had two turnovers tonight. That’s a really good game for a point guard — 21, 14, and two. Those are great numbers that we want to see and expect to see. He’s good enough to put those numbers up.”
Trae Young made a little bit of history during the game.
After losing Game 2 to the Knicks Young told the crowd that the Hawks would “see you in the ‘A.’
The Hawks star dropped 21 points and 14 assists along with a rebound in Game 3 and led the Hawks to the win, taking the lead over the Knicks.
“The energy, the buzz in the building was great,” Young said. “Just having the fans back definitely helped. Their energy, we really fed off it the whole game. … This is my first experience at home in the playoffs. I’m looking forward to having a lot more of these. It’s so much fun. There’s so much buzz in the building.”
His 14 assists give him the record of 30 assists in his first three career playoff games. As a result, he now joins Stephen Curry, Chris Paul, Kevin Johnson, Magic Johnson, and Oscar Robertson as the only players to record more than 30 assists in their first three career playoff games.

Trae’s amazing playmaking ability led other players to shine as well.
“He’s showing some growth in his play and managing and understanding what he needs to do out on the floor,” McMillan said. “He’s keeping all of those guys involved while continuing to stay aggressive. And he’s making good reads. And we’ve talked a number of times — he has to cut down his turnovers. He’s too good of a passer to have five, six turnovers a game. Two is OK. But five, six is a big number for a guy who passes as well as he does.”
Besides Trae, six other Hawks players scored in double figures to lift the Hawks past the Knicks in game 3.

Young’s teammate Bogdanovic said Young makes the game “simple” for his teammates.
“As Nate said, he’s like a Ferrari,” Bogdanovic said. “And he’s just learning to drive the car.”
Clint Capela contributed 13 points and 12 rebounds along with 2 assists.
De’Andre Hunter dropped 11 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists.
Similarly, Danilo Gallinari led the Hawks bench scoring 12 points along with 4 rebounds, and an assist.
Followed Kevin Huerter who dropped 10 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists.
Derrick Rose led the Knicks.
On the other hand, Derrick Rose led the Knicks, scoring 30 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists. While Julius Randle made 14 points, 11 rebounds double-double along 2 assists.
Reggie Bullock contributed 11 points, 5 rebounds, and an assist.
Meanwhile, Nerlens Noel led the Knicks bench scoring 12 points, 8 rebounds and an assist all coming off the bench.
Now they face each other again for game 4 of Play-offs round 3 on Sunday at State Farm Arena.
