Game 2 of Playoffs round 1 between the Memphis Grizzlies and Utah Jazz began at Vivint Arena on Wednesday night.
The Jazz defeated the Grizzlies 141-129, tying the series 1-1.
Donovan Mitchell returned for the Jazz after missing the last 17 games including game 1 of the playoffs, where the Jazz lost to the Grizzlies 112-109.
The Jazz took the lead over the Grizzlies due to hot scoring from the main starters of the team.
All the starters of the Jazz scored in double-figures for the win.
As a result, they continued to dominate and ultimately won game 2.
And on the other hand, Ja Morant of the Grizzlies scored 47 points in the loss to the Jazz. He sets a franchise record with the score.
And also becomes the 2nd youngest player to record 45+ points in an NBAPlayoffs game.
Utah Jazz took the lead in the first quarter.
Mike Conley drove to the basket dropping a layup to start the quarter for the Jazz. Then Jonas Valanciunas answered back with a spin, dropping a jumper and tying the game right after.
Donovan Mitchell scored his first bucket after missing 17 games. He made a three-pointer from behind the three-point line on Conley’s pass.

And Ja Morant answered back with a jumper with 9:18 remaining in the quarter.
Dillon Brooks made a bucket for the Grizzlies right after that. Mitchell lost the ball to Ja Morant as a result Morant dunked on the other side, giving the Grizzlies a three-point lead.
Bojan Bogdanovic then answered back with a fadeaway.
Morant continued to score for the Grizzlies as he dropped another jumper to take the three-point lead again.
Mitchell subsequently drew a foul, dropping a bucket from behind the three-point line that gave four-point to the Jazz and a point lead.
Desmond Bane answered back with a bucket from inside the free-throw line.
Bogdanovic’s little spin move basket gave the Jazz a three-point lead with 5:37 remaining in the first quarter.
Mitchell scored a three-pointer as they went 14-18 with under a five-minute left to play in the quarter.
Morant pass to Kyle Anderson for the dunk cut the lead to two-point.

Soon the Jazz fired up and made a 10-2 run, taking an eight-point lead over the Grizzlies with about two minutes left in the quarter.
Both the teams scored a basket each but soon the Grizzlies dropped back-to-back buckets with Morant scoring a jumper and De’Anthony Melton a three-pointer on Morant’s pass cutting the lead to five points with about 47 seconds left for the quarter.
Joe Ingles answered back with a three-pointer and Mike Conley also dropped another three-pointer with 5.6 seconds remaining, extending the lead to 11 points again.
However, the quarter ended 27-36 as Tyus Jones dropped a layup at the buzzer cutting the Jazz lead.
The Jazz continued to dominate the Grizzlies in the second quarter.
Memphis started the second quarter with a bucket going 30-36. Rudy Gobert then answered back with a bucket.
He also blocked Grayson Allen’s shot, giving another bucket for the Jazz as he dropped a dunk on Conley’s assist.
This gave the Jazz 10 point lead with 10:18 remaining in the quarter.
Dillon Brooks then answered back with a bucket before Jordan Clarkson drops a three-pointer.
Morant then tried to drop a bucket over Rudy Gobert but Rudy blocked him at the rim.

And Clarkson dropped another bucket for the Jazz. Melton then slammed Jaren Jackson Jr’s miss for another Grizzlies’ bucket.
While Royce O’Neale made a bucket after Clarkson missed a three-pointer. Morant then answered back, driving straight to the rim and dropping a layup.
The Jazz however took 14 point lead halfway into the quarter. Mitchell extended the lead, driving straight to the rim and making a layup.
Anderson dropped a layup on Morant’s to keep the Grizzlies in the game. Bogdanovic answered back with a layup subsequently.
While Morant continued his hot scoring dropping a three-pointer on the next possession.
Anderson then deflected Ingles’ pass and drove straight to the rim dunking it hope.
The Grizzlies trailed the Jazz throughout the quarter with as much as 14 points and were 52-71 with 47.7 remaining in the game.
Ingles then dropped a three-pointer giving the Jazz 22 points advantage with 10.1 seconds remaining.
Subsequently, Morant dropped a jumper, cutting the lead and ending the quarter 52-74.

Brooks started the third quarter with a jumper for the Grizzlies. And Morant dropped a three-pointer on the next possession.
Likewise, Brooks dropped a three-pointer right after that.
The Grizzlies started to come back, cutting the lead and going 62-75 with 10:32 remaining in the quarter.
Gobert answered back with a three-pointer. But then Anderson drops another bucket after getting the ball on his own miss.
And Morant drops a jumper.

Mitchell made a step-back three-pointer subsequently. And Jaren Jackson answered with a three-pointer of his own.
While Conley drops a three-pointer extending the lead to 16 points with 8:33 remaining in the third quarter.
Morant continued his amazing performance dropping a jumper and making an assist for the Brooks, giving back-to-back buckets to the Grizzlies.
This brought Grizzlies within 12 points before Gobert drops a bucket on Conley’s alley-oop.
Morant still trying to cut the lead drops another jumper for the Grizzlies followed by another bucket on Valanciunas’ three-point miss.
With hot scoring from Morant Grizzlies cut the Jazz’s 22 points lead to 6 points halfway into the quarter.

Derrick Favors strike back with a dunk on Conley’s pass. And Valanciunas answered with a bucket on the other side.
Anderson hits a three-pointer and Melton hits another three-pointer on the next possession cutting the lead to two points with about three minutes left to play in the quarter.
They were 93-96 as Clarkson hits a jumper extending the lead to five points 2:30 remaining in the third quarter.
Despite Memphis storming back and cutting the lead, the Jazz still ended the quarter with the lead 97-103.

The Jazz took the win and tied the series.
Rudy Gobert started the fourth quarter with a dunk and another bucket subsequently on Conley’s pass.
He also rejected Jaren Jackson’s shot.
Conley dropped a floater and the Jazz extended the lead 99-112.
He also dropped a three-pointer with 9:29 remaining in the quarter, giving 12 point lead for the Jazz.
Georges Niang hits a three-pointer bringing the game 104-119 with Jazz in the lead. And Clarkson drops a bucket on Niang’s three-point miss.
Anderson pass to Morant and Morant’s dunk cut the lead but the Grizzlies still trailed the Jazz 108-121.
Jackson and Brooks’s back-to-back buckets continued 8-0 run for the Grizzlies cutting the lead to 9 points with 7 minutes left to play.
Conley drove to the basket and dropped a floater while Morant answered back with a dunk.
O’Neale dropped a three-pointer subsequently and Gobert made a three-pointer on the next possession.
They were 118-131 halfway into the quarter.
As Valanciunas made another bucket for the Grizzlies. While O’Neale scored a three-pointer that extended the Jazz lead to 14 points with about four minutes left to play.
Rudy Gobert blocked Brooks and Mitchell scored a bucket on the other end.
Conley lost the ball and Valanciunas finished on the other side with a bucket.
O’Neale scored another three-pointer with 45.9 seconds remaining.
Brooks answered back with a three-pointer.
The fourth quarter ended with the Jazz defeating the Grizzlies 129-141.
This tied the series 1-1 as they meet again for game 3 at FedEx Forum.
