Slovenian basketball player Luka Doni plays for the Dallas Mavericks in the National Basketball Association. He also represents the national squad of Slovenia. Doni, a Ljubljana native, excelled with Union Olimpija as a young player before joining the Real Madrid junior program.

When he started playing basketball at his Ljubljana elementary school when he was seven years old, his opponents ranged in age from nine to ten.
When he was just eight years old, Luka began working out with players who were 11 years old at the invitation of Olimpija Basketball School coach Grega Brezovec. Despite finishing second to FC Barcelona in the under-14 Vasas Intesa Sanpaolo Cup in Budapest in September 2011, he was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP)
