Hunter High Cheer Coach Accused of Bullying, Abuse, and Financial Misuse — Ordered Only Herself and Assistant Warm-Ups

A parent's relentless fight

Shilo Armijo, a concerned parent, took to Facebook to publicly criticize Hunter High School and the Granite School District for what she described as ongoing bullying and mismanagement within the cheer program.

Her post accused cheer coach Natalie Escobar of continuing abusive behavior toward multiple cheerleaders, including Armijo’s own daughters.

According to the post, Armijo’s daughters were allegedly removed from the team without justification.

She highlighted troubling decisions such as ordering warm-ups only for herself and her assistant while neglecting the rest of the team.

She also pointed out the failure to register the squad for the Winter Classic Competition, despite it being covered by cheer fees.

Shilo Armijo Described the Hunter High Cheer Coach, Natalie Escobar, as “UNFIT coach PERIOD”

In her detailed post, Armijo emphasized that the cheer team has yet to perform any actual cheering, instead repeating the same dance routine fifteen times.

She described the situation as “embarrassing, disgraceful, and disrespectful,” saying:

Embarrassing, Disgraceful & Disrespectful is what that is to the cheerleaders, the school & the district as a whole!

Armijo claimed to have made over 100 emails, 30 phone calls, and attended multiple meetings in pursuit of accountability, yet received no adequate response from administrators.

She has now escalated the issue to the Utah State Board of Education, Utah High School Activities Association (UHSAA) Sports, alleging verbal, physical, mental, spiritual, and financial abuse by the coach.

On the other hand, Shilo Armijo publicly condemned Hunter High School and the Granite School District on October 16.

In that post, she described the pattern of unchecked misconduct by cheer coach Natalie Escobar.

In her post, Armijo claimed that despite filing multiple complaints with school and district administrators, including the principal, vice principal, athletic director, family advocate, and superintendent, no one had offered an explanation, apology, or solution.

Armijo also stated that several other parents had made similar complaints, which she said were consistently ignored or “swept under the rug.”

Many commenters shared their perspectives on Armijo’s post, expressing their own frustrations.

One described the situation as very troubling, writing:

Very troubling news. So sad things are falling apart with this team because of the bad coach and admin. You are going above and beyond to remedy this. Is this a new coach, different from last year?

Likewise, another highlighted the systemic concerns, saying,

Its Granite School District that fails these kids but having whoever coach them. Multiple coaches physically harm as well as threaten to kill the kids but they do nothing. They sweep it under the rug. I have reached out to these people so many times abd NOTHING. I hope you get somewhere because they need to be held accountable

These responses underline the shared rage, calls for accountability, and support for Armijo’s persistence in seeking justice.
