A 27 year old woman from Rock Valley, Iowa, is back in custody after authorities say she broke a no contact order tied to a sexual exploitation case.
Alexis Ann Severson, a former West Lyon High School softball coach, was arrested on Sunday, August 23, on charges of first offense sex offender registration violation and violation of a no contact or protective order.
According to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, the arrest followed a tip that Severson had been in touch with the person she was ordered to stay away from.
Investigators say she called the protected individual nine times between August 10 and August 23. Severson reportedly admitted to making the calls when questioned.
A search warrant allowed investigators to examine her cellphone. That review turned up months of daily contact through the Zoom app, including text messages and video calls that appeared to date back to June. Officers also found that Severson and the protected individual had been tracking each other’s locations through the Life360 app.
Registration Violation Adds to Legal Trouble
Severson’s latest arrest comes on the heels of her sentencing earlier this month. She pleaded guilty to sexual exploitation by a counselor or therapist, and on August 10 a Lyon County judge ordered her to register as a sex offender.
She completed that registration on August 17, but authorities say she left out the Zoom app and an associated online username, “Serenity,” which she was required to disclose.
Her original case dates back to November 2024, when she was arrested for allegedly carrying on a long term sexual relationship with a student while working as a coach.
She initially faced three counts of sexual exploitation by a school employee along with a grooming charge. Two of those charges were later dropped, but she ultimately pleaded guilty to two remaining counts and received two years of probation on August 10.
Probation Revoked Following New Charges
Because the new charges stem directly from her sex offender status and the terms of her release, officials say her probation has now been revoked. She remains in custody in Lyon County as the new charges move through the court system.
The case has drawn continued attention in northwest Iowa and the wider Sioux Falls region, where earlier coverage of her original arrest and sentencing had already made headlines.
It remains unclear when Severson will next appear in court on the newest charges, though local outlets are expected to continue following the case as it develops.
