Frank R. Viscardi of Westborough took his last breath peacefully at the age of 90 on February 11, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Born in Worcester to Emil R. and J. Shirley Viscardi, Frank was raised in Shrewsbury. He is survived by his children, Kenneth Viscardi, Steven Viscardi, Gail Granger, and Beth Viscardi.
His son, Kenneth Viscardi, is married to Linda. Whereas his daughter, Gail Granger, is married to Lance Granger.
In addition to his children and their significant partners, Frank Viscardi is survived by his grandchildren Lindsey Granger, Emily Granger, Caitlin Gallegos and her husband Tony, Anna Viscardi, and Jessica Knight and her husband Nate.
He was involved in community work and contributed to various organizations such as the Westborough Recreation Commission, the Jaycees, the Westborough Civic Club, youth baseball and softball, St. Luke the Evangelist, and Boy Scout and Girl Scout events.
Viscardi played a significant role in the inception of the youth soccer program and the planning of the Haskell Street athletic fields.
His funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 22, at 10:00 A.M. in St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 70 West Main St., Westborough. His burial will be held at St. Luke’s Cemetery.

Frank Viscardi’s Wife of 58 Years, Patricia A. Durkin, Preceded Him in Death!
The Athletic Hall of Fame Member Frank Viscardi married Patricia A. Durkin on February 20, 1960, and they raised a tight-knit family of six in Westborough.
Frank and Patricia shared a love for travel, especially through Europe, after his retirement. However, their sound married life came to an end after Patricia took her last breath.
Patricia A. Durkin lost her courageous 3-year battle with cancer on March 16, 2018, at the end of 81, ending their almost six decades of marital life.
Born to Harold Durkin and Anna H. DeRosa in Jersey City, NJ, Patricia was a registered nurse who graduated from the Jersey City Medical Center in 1957.

She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Boston College in 1960. Her nursing career included work at Hahnemann Hospital in Worcester, but she found her true calling as an occupational health nurse.
Before working independently as a Nurse Case Manager, Patricia worked at Bay State Abrasives, Massachusetts Electric, Honeywell, and NEC.
She was still working at the time of her death. Her funeral Mass was celebrated on March 23, 2018, at St. Luke the Evangelist Church.
Like her husband, Patricia was involved in several community work. She participated in the Westborough League of Women Voters, Jaycees, and the Police Relocation Committee and was elected to two separate Charter Commissions.
Patricia played a significant role in founding the Women’s Club at St. Luke’s Evangelist Church and often cooked meals for needy community members.

Frank Viscardi Was Inducted Into the Athletic Hall of Fame as a Member of the 1952 Soccer Team!
He graduated from Shrewsbury High School in 1952. During high school, Frank Viscardi excelled in sports and student government.
Frank Viscardi attended Fitchburg State College, where he continued his involvement in sports. He was later inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame as a member of the 1952 soccer team.
He graduated in 1956 with a degree in education for industrial arts and later earned a Master’s degree from Worcester State College.

Viscardi began his teaching career in Northbridge but spent most of his career in the Framingham Public Schools as an industrial arts/technology education teacher, eventually becoming the department leader.
His dedication to education extended beyond the classroom; he served as president of both the Technology Education Association of Massachusetts (TEAM) and the New England Association of Technology Teachers (NEATT).
In 1997, Frank received the Dr. Phillip J. Tardanico Award for his outstanding contributions to technology education. He was involved in writing the Massachusetts Framework for Technology Education.
