A respected coach, Marc White, passed away suddenly on June 3, 2025. However, the reason behind his passing remains concealed.
Marc White was a beloved coach who touched the hearts of many through his professionalism and passion for the sport.
He is survived by his family, including cousins Brett White and White White.
Hailing from Battle Creek, Michigan, Marc White was a standout player from Battle Creek Central High School’s Class of 1990 and a beloved mentor.
White rose to prominence as a 6-foot-4 forward at Battle Creek Central High School, where he became one of the most celebrated players in the school’s history.
As a player, Marc White was a physical 6-foot-4 forward who led Battle Creek Central to two consecutive state semifinal appearances.
He was runner-up for Mr. Basketball in his senior year, earned All-State honors, and was named to the Detroit News Dream Team alongside players like Chris Webber and Jalen Rose.
White holds the second spot on Battle Creek Central’s all-time career scoring list with 1,442 points, averaging 21.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game in his senior year.
After high school, he played at a junior college before starting two seasons at Central Michigan University.
Besides coaching, Marc White previously worked as a counselor at Northwestern Middle School.
Edward Blair II, the father of one of Marc White’s former students, shared a moving tribute on Facebook, honoring the lasting impact Coach White had on his son’s life.
Edward Blair II expressed his sincere emotions about Coach Marc White, who had coached his oldest son in 7th-grade basketball. He wrote:
Coach White wasn’t just a coach—he was a mentor and a strong, caring presence in his son’s life. He believed in him through his time at bcps, supported him as a student-athlete, and cared about him far beyond the basketball court. That kind of impact means everything as a father.

Edward also said it was an honor for his son to learn from someone like Coach White, who was a local basketball star and gave back to the community with passion and professionalism.
Likewise, Edward even got the chance to coach against him and admired how Coach White led his team.
“Thank you, Coach White, for pouring into my son and so many others. Your work, your care, and your example will never be forgotten. Rest easy, Coach.” Edward ended the post.
