The assistant football coach at the University of Washington, Bush Hamdan, took to his Facebook and mourned the death of Ron. He wrote,

Not enough words to describe the impact Ron Collins had on my life. He led great defenses everywhere he coached. What made him so unique was the higher he climbed, the busier he got, the more time he had for guys like me just starting out. Will never forget the dinners we had at coaches conventions. Every conversation I ever had always ended with him telling me how proud he was of them. Life gets hard. You learn early to surround yourself w/ great mentors and he was certainly one for me. Rest Easy RC
