She wrote, “If I had known last Saturday was your last race, I wouldn’t have complained about factorys being last. I would’ve cheered louder. If I had known yesterday was your last day I would’ve called just to hear you say “bye Mak Mak love you” one more time.“
Hopson’s best friend, Lexa Brady Sellers, took to her Facebook, sharing a photo featuring him and Aubree. She wrote:
I’m in such shock I don’t even know what to think. Sick to your stomach, heart broken, devastated for Aub & the kids. They need the absolute most prayers right now. We will miss you more than words can describe.

The laughs were contagious. Vacations, trips, racing. Well forever be your biggest fan. We’d drive hours even if you just ended up with a flat. We’ve been family for more years than I can count. Yall have been with me through thick & thin the lowest times. I know you’ll be winning every race up there. Watch over us all. We all need it. I hope you see how truly loved you were/ are. To know you was a blessing. Well keep your memory alive forever ♾️
