Community Stands Behind Coach Andre Davis Despite DUI Arrest
According to the official court documents, Andre Davis was charged with multiple offenses.
This includes Driving While Impaired, Reckless Driving, Failure to Comply with License Restrictions, Possession of an Open Container, Driving Left of Center, Failure to Maintain Lane Control, and Speeding.
The arrest took place in Franklin County, North Carolina, and was handled by the State Highway Patrol.
Moreover, the legal paperwork confirms that Davis waived his probable cause hearing and acknowledged the charges against him.
These offenses are serious, but no injuries were reported in connection with the incident.
Despite the charges, many community members rallied behind Coach Davis in the comments.
One commenter noted that the post seemed intended to shame him, but instead revealed how strong his support system is, saying:
The crazy part about this post is that it was posted to bring shame to him but it’s getting the opposite reaction. Because what yall don’t know about Dre is he’s a GREAT coach and mentor to these boys, he goes above and beyond for them, he encourages them and makes sure they’re not just ok at school but at home too. So I don’t know whose idea it was to post this but Andre has an AMAZING support system behind him and although we may not agree with his actions we won’t stand for anybody trying to attack him or question his character. Be blessed!!
Supporters described him as a “great coach and mentor” who genuinely cares for his students both in school and at home. He further said:
Yall couldn’t wait to put this up here could up. Dre is a great person , outstanding coach , honorable teacher and an amazing mentor. This could’ve been kept off the internet knowing how much it would impact the community and the students. I’ve seen way worse than this. Can’t even let him deal with his mistake in peace.
Others pointed out that Davis recently lost his father and may be grieving. They urged people not to judge him solely based on this incident, saying:
This Man just lost his father and everybody grieves a different way. Some of y’all downplaying him as a bad person and don’t even know this man personally. I’m not saying driving under the influence is ok to do but don’t judge him off this. He’s a great person and coach!!
While acknowledging that driving under the influence is wrong, many emphasized his positive impact on students and the community.
