A passionate educator and a respected coach, Dante Montoya tragically passed away in a car accident on October 15, 2025.

He was a beloved teacher and coach at South San Antonio High School in Texas.

Dante Montoya Was A Respected Teacher, Coach, And Mentor At South San Antonio High School!

Dante Montoya was the Defensive Coordinator at South San Antonio High School and was recognized as the THSCA Assistant Coach of the Year.

He studied at Texas A&M University-Kingsville and graduated from East Central High School, both of which shaped his journey as an educator and mentor.

A lifelong resident of San Antonio, Texas, Dante lived and worked in the community he loved, sharing his passion for learning and sports.

He was married to Leslie Lovering Montoya, and together they built a life rooted in service, support, and connection.

He spent his life helping young people grow through education and sports.

As a teacher, he was known for his patience and passion, making learning enjoyable and meaningful.

He taught various subjects and always believed in his students’ potential.

As a coach for football and track, he inspired athletes to work hard, stay disciplined, and support one another.

His coaching went beyond sports; he taught life lessons about respect, humility, and perseverance.

Dante was also a caring colleague and an active member of the Kingsville community.

Following his passing, the community has come together to honor his memory.

Students, parents, and staff have shared heartfelt tributes, remembering him as a mentor, role model, and friend.

He is survived by his wife and their children, while they remain tight-lipped during this difficult time.

Additionally, a memorial service is being planned, and a fund has been set up to support his family during this difficult time.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to Dante Montoya’s family, friends, and well-wishers.
