The community of Dry Ridge, Kentucky, is mourning the loss of Don Scalf, who passed away on October 8, 2025, at the age of 55.
Born on March 2, 1970, in Covington, Kentucky, Don lived a life centered on faith, family, and service.
As an operations manager for Verst Group Logistics and a dedicated member of Big Bone Baptist Church in Union, Kentucky, Don devoted himself to both his professional responsibilities and his church community.
His unwavering faith in Jesus Christ guided his life, while his love for his family shaped his legacy as a devoted husband, father, son, and brother.
Beyond his career and faith, Don cherished simple joys like fishing, golfing, and cheering for the University of Kentucky.
His passion for life and his genuine care for others left a lasting mark on everyone he met.
Don is preceded in death by his father, Don Ray Scalf, who passed away in 2022.
He is survived by his loving wife, Angela Scalf; his sons, Colton and Hunter Scalf; his mother, Rena Scalf; his siblings, Chad Scalf and Michelle Stewart (Tim); and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Dorris and Parker Prince.
He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews who deeply loved and admired him.
His impact extended beyond his personal and professional life. As a longtime assistant coach and freshman head coach for GCHS Boys Basketball, Don played a pivotal role in shaping young athletes.
Known for his positivity and warm spirit, he often greeted players and staff with his signature “How you doing, brother?”
His kindness, mentorship, and genuine care built a bond that will continue to inspire those he coached.
His passing has left a profound void in the basketball program and the broader community.
Teammates, players, and colleagues remember him as a man of strong faith, a mentor, and a friend who always put others first.
Visitation for Don will take place on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Big Bone Baptist Church, followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m.
He will be laid to rest at Big Bone Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorial contributions to Big Bone Baptist Church to support the community Don held dear.
His legacy of faith, love, and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of his family, friends, players, and everyone whose life he touched.
