Dean E. Schott II, a former high school basketball coach and teaching assistant at Lyons Central School District in New York, was arrested on August 5, 2025, following allegations of sexual abuse involving a former student.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation, leading to Schott’s arrest and subsequent arraignment on charges of third-degree criminal sexual act and third-degree sexual abuse.
He was arraigned on August 6, 2025, and pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Because the charges are not bail-eligible under New York State law, he was released on his recognizance. He is scheduled to return to court on October 8, 2025.
