Atlanta Dream center Brionna Jones is dominating the court in the WNBA, astonishing fans and making her parents proud with every achievement.

In a recent WNBA Commissioner’s Cup game on June 10, 2025, Brionna Jones led the Atlanta Dream to a 77-58 victory over the Indiana Fever, scoring a crucial 21 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

With her remarkable performance, Brionna Jones not only won the hearts of many but also made her parents and family proud.

Furthermore, coming from a family of athletes, Brionna Jones possesses athletic skills naturally.

The World Cup gold medalist, Brionna Jones, was born on December 18, 1995, in Baltimore, Maryland, United States, as a middle child to parents Michael and Sanciarhea Jones.

She has three siblings, including her older brother, Jarred; her younger sister, Stephanie; and her younger brother, Jordan, all of whom are exceptional basketball players.

Likewise, Brionna Jones and her siblings inherited their athletic genes from their parents, Michael and Sanciarhea Jones, both former college standout athletes.

Brionna Jones’ Father, Michael Jones, Played Basketball At Hartford University

Brionna Jones’ father, Michael Jones, a Maryland native, was born to late mother Joyce Ann Inman Jones and father Ronald Jones.

While he prefers to live a private life, he guided all of his children in their basketball journey, serving as their first coach.

Moreover, Michael Jones showcased his exceptional basketball skills playing for the Havre De Grace High School and Aberdeen High School men’s basketball teams, leading his team to several victories.

He graduated from Havre De Grace High School in 1982.

Michael Jones further continued his basketball journey while attending the University of Hartford, where he played until 1985, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in communications.

Similarly, his Facebook includes some posts that refer to him as a coach, but it is unclear whether Michael Jones actually works as a basketball coach.

Michael Jones lost his beloved mother, Brionna Jones’ grandmother, Joyce Ann Jones, on March 26, 2017.

He has two sisters, Pamela Hullett of Aberdeen and Tracey Jones of Perryville.

Brionna Jones’ Mother, Sanciarhea Godfrey Jones, Is A Former Volleyball Star

While Brionna Jones’ mother, Sanciarhea Godfrey Jones, didn’t play basketball like the rest of the Jones family, she showcased her amazing athletic skills playing volleyball at high school and college.

Sanciarhea Jones also instilled in Brionna Jones and her siblings the dedication and passion for sports, which later shaped their athletic journey.

Furthermore, Sanciarhea Jones played volleyball at East Texas State University, leading her team in several victories.

A native of Hooks, Texas, Brionna Jones’ mother, Sanciarhea Jones, was born to late parents Arxavia Earl and Grover C. Godfrey.

Sanciarhea Jones’ mother, Arxavia, who worked for the Red River Army Depot for 28 years, passed away on March 1, 2025, just two days shy of her 87th birthday.

Similarly, one month later, after her mother’s demise, Sanciarhea lost her beloved father, Grover Cleveland Godfrey, who passed away on April 15, 2025, at the age of 86.

Her late father, Grover, served as an educator for 35 years, teaching vocational agriculture to high school students and other subjects.

Grover was also an amazing baritone saxophonist, earning 3rd place at the National FFA Talent Playoff in Atlanta, Georgia, while attending Pemberton High School. He also became the first African American principal in Bowie County, outside of Texarkana.
