Former Bureau Valley Running Back Todd Maynard, 39, Died From Cancer, Leaving His Wife, Dana, and Two Children Behind!

Todd Maynard, a beloved husband, father, son, and friend, passed away at the age of 39 on Monday night, April 7, 2025, after a short yet brave fight with NUT carcinoma.

On Monday night, the small town of Walnut, Illinois, lost one of its brightest stars. Todd Maynard, a beloved husband, father, son, and friend, passed away fighting NUT carcinoma, a rare and aggressive cancer.

Todd Maynard was survived by his wife of 13 years, Dana Maynard, and two daughters. They married on June 18, 2011.

After Todd had taken his last breath, Dana updated her profile and cover picture with a picture of him and their daughters.

He was also a loving son to his parents, mother Sue Stillwell Maynard and father Mike Maynard, a co-founder of TCI Manufacturing.

His father, Mike, helped start the company, which makes equipment for the aggregate industry, and has been a big part of the town since 2000.

Whereas his mother, Sue Maynard, is a registered nurse. She completed her RN BSN (Registered Nurse Bachelor of Science in Nursing) at CGH Medical Center.

Following Todd’s untimely death, Sue updated her profile picture featuring him, writing, “Love you always!

Todd, a graduate of Western Illinois University, worked at the Advanced Asphalt Company from May 2008 until his last breath.

Todd was a legend in Bureau County because of his incredible talent on the football field. At Bureau Valley High School, where he graduated in 2004, he became the county’s all-time leading rusher with 4,001 yards.

He also scored 56 touchdowns, a number that ranks 30th in Illinois High School Association history.

Todd was tough and hardworking, leading his team to the playoffs and even helping set the stage for a state championship a few years later.

But Todd was more than just a great athlete; he had a heart of gold. In Walnut, people described Todd as kind, humble, and always ready with a smile or a friendly word.

Todd Maynard’s funeral services will be held soon to honor his life. On Wednesday, April 16, from 4 to 7 p.m., there will be a visitation at Norberg Funeral Home in Princeton, Illinois.

The funeral is on Thursday, April 17, at 10 a.m. at The People’s Church in Princeton, Illinois. After the funeral, Todd will be buried at Walnut Cemetery.
