Former Colorado Buffaloes Linebacker Bryan Stengel Made His Parents With His Brief Yet Successful Career!

This article was last updated by on

Bryan Stengel attributed his successful career to his parents, who remain low-key and away from the prying eyes of the media.

Bryan Stengel played inside linebacker for the Colorado Buffaloes, making an impact, even though it was brief, during his brief time with the team in 2008 and 2009.

Stengel’s efforts on the field earned his teammates and fans respect. Meanwhile, his parents, who preferred to stay out of the spotlight, were proud of his hard work and achievements.

Even though Stengel hasn’t publicly mentioned his parents, his growth from a standout player at Durango High School to an essential part of the Buffaloes shows how his family quietly supported his success.

Undoubtedly, they shaped him from a small-town high school to the Big 12 Conference. That said, little to no details about them are available.

Bryan Stengel Had A Brief Yet Impressive Career of Five Years At The Colorado Buffaloes!

Born on May 20, 1987, in Durango, Colorado, Bryan Stengel stood out at Durango High School.

Over four years, Durango’s records under his tenure included 6-4 (senior), 6-3 (junior), 5-5 (sophomore), and 7-4 (freshman).

As a senior, he earned first-team all-conference and honorable mention all-state honors.

His senior season had staggering stats of 65 tackles (90 unassisted), 20 for losses, five quarterback sacks, four fumble recoveries (two for touchdowns), three forced fumbles, 10 passes broken up, and two interceptions.

Offensively, he showcased his skills as a starting wingback, catching 35 passes, seven for touchdowns.

Let alone senior, Stengel’s junior year was equally impressive, with 115 tackles and an interception, earning him second-team all-conference honors.

Beyond football, Stengel lettered three times in baseball, earning first-team all-conference honors as a senior and contributing to a state championship summer team in 2003.

It was in 2005, Stengel joined the Colorado Buffaloes as an invited walk-on.

His freshman year was spent as a redshirt, practicing at inside linebacker. In 2006, as a redshirt freshman, he didn’t see game action but dressed for nine games, including road trips to Missouri and Nebraska.

In 2007, his sophomore year, Stengel transitioned to outside linebacker but was sidelined by a broken thumb suffered in practice on November 5, making him miss the season’s final games.

Despite not playing, he dressed for nine of the first 10 games and impressed in spring practices, earning a spot as the second-string outside linebacker entering the fall.

After redshirting his freshman year, he spent early part of his college career honing his skills. That opportunity came in 2008, his junior year, when he saw action in nine games, including all eight Big 12 Conference matchups.

Over 114 defensive snaps, he recorded 13 tackles (eight solo), two quarterback chasedowns, one third-down stop, one tackle for zero gain, one third-down stop, and a pass broken up.

His standout performances included three-tackle games against Kansas (all solo) and Nebraska (all solo).

While playing on special teams, Stengel made one solo tackle and a knockdown block.

During the spring scrimmage, he stood out by tying for the team lead with 21 tackles, which included three tackles for losses, three third-down stops, and a sack.

In his senior year in 2009, Stengel continued to make an impact, playing in 10 games overall. He participated in four games on defense, starting in one against Toledo, and contributed in special teams during all 10 games.

Unfortunately, a minor injury kept him out of the games against Missouri and Texas A&M. Across 34 defensive snaps that season, he recorded nine tackles, three of them solo, with his best game being against Toledo, where he made four tackles.

On special teams, he returned a kickoff for five yards against Colorado State and had four knockdown blocks.

His career totals included 22 tackles (11 solo), two third-down stops, one pass broken up, and a 5-yard kickoff return.
