Cross country runner and Highlands High School alumnus, Robert J. Singer, has passed away at the age of 73, bringing grief to the New Kensington, Pennsylvania, community.
Robert was a 1969 graduate of Highlands High School, part of the first class of Har-Brack to graduate from Highlands.
Following his time at Highlands, he also served as a coach for the Highland Hornet football team.
According to his loved ones, he enjoyed trap shooting with the South Buffalo Sportsmen, loved to cook and entertain, rode his Harley Davidson motorcycle, and participated in bowling and dart leagues.

Robert was born on January 28, 1952, in Harrison Township to the late parents Robert W. and Dolores J. “Peggy” (Rigatti) Singer Jr.
He spent most of his life in Natrona Heights before moving to New Kensington 11 years ago.
Following his college journey at Highlands, he became the owner/operator of the former Do Drop Inn in Natrona Heights, a position he held until his retirement in 2013.
Robert was actively involved in his community, serving as a member of the New Kensington Eagles, a life member of the Lower Burrell VFW, and a member of the Arnold Fire Department.

While he is now remembered by his admirers, he is survived by his wife, Gwen L. Singer; his son, William J. Singer of Natrona Heights; and his stepdaughter, Gail Leyland of Ford City.
Additionally, he is survived by 10 grandchildren and his sister, Shelly (Mark A.) Marshall of South Buffalo Township.
Reports suggest that all services and burial for Robert will be private. Duster Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., 347 E 10th Ave, Tarentum, 724-224-1526, had taken the responsibility of the funeral.
