Likewise, he also leaves his grandchildren, Morgan Pearson, Josie Hockett, and Shelby Hockett; brother-in-law, John Sinischo; and several nieces and nephews.
Joe Whitesitt’s death comes just six months after the passing of his wife of 53 years, Deborah Whitesitt, who took her last breath on November 12, 2024, at IU Health University Hospital.
Whitesitt’s selflessness was perhaps most vividly demonstrated in his personal life. Married to his beloved wife, Deborah, for 53 years, Joe made an extraordinary sacrifice by donating a kidney to her, granting her an additional 25 years of life.

His children thanked him for his selfless act in her obituary writing: “Thank you, Dad, for giving us 25 more years with Mom by giving her one of your kidneys.”
At the moment, losing both parents in such a short time has caused immense sorrow for their children.
In addition to his wife, Whitesitt is preceded in death by his parents, George Alexander and Martha (Joyce) Whitesitt, and siblings Joyce Sinischo and Jim Whitesitt.
