Former University Of Wisconsin Badgers RB Nate White, 21, Passes Away, Leaving Behind His Parents, Les and Chrystal!

Nate White was a talented young football player whose life was tragically cut short at just 21 years old on June 25, 2025.

He was found unresponsive in his bed by his roommate in Brookings, South Dakota.

Despite the efforts of Emergency responders, he could not be revived. Investigators have not yet released an official cause of death, and the circumstances remain under review.

The Football World Honors Nate White With Outpouring Of Love And Grief

Born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Nate White was a standout at Rufus King High School.

As a senior, he rushed for over 1,300 yards and 26 touchdowns in his senior year, earning conference offensive player of the year.

After graduating in 2023, Nate joined the Wisconsin Badgers, where he spent two seasons training and practicing at both running back and wide receiver.

Although he did not record official game statistics during this time, he was considered a valuable and developing member of the team.

Later, he transferred to South Dakota State University in January 2025 to continue his football journey.

During spring practices, he impressed the coaching staff and was widely expected to compete for the starting tailback role in the upcoming season

Although his time there was short, he made a lasting impression. The entire college football community is mourning his untimely loss.

Both universities and their athletic departments expressed deep sorrow, noting his hard work, potential, and positive spirit.

South Dakota State coach Dan Jackson expressed deep shock at the sudden loss, saying:

Jackrabbit football is a brotherhood and today we are all hurting with the shocking news of the loss of Nate White…We grieve with his family and will honor his memory throughout the upcoming season.

Likewise, SDSU President Barry Dunn also shared his sorrow, remarking,

While Nate had not been on campus long, he was not only beloved by his teammates and coaches, but also by faculty and those who had the opportunity to get to know him. … Our hearts and prayers are with Nate’s family, loved ones, teammates, and anyone who knew him.

Among the most emotional was his close friend Jackson McGohan, who shared a deeply personal tribute, saying:

Not just a teammate or a best friend but truly a brother to me. I don’t even know what to say right now man, I can’t stop thinking back to all the times when we were just hanging out goofing off and just talking about random stuff and I’d do anything right now just to hang out and talk to u one more time… I love you more than anything brother.❤️❤️
