She is a great mother!

If you’ve followed professional basketball closely over the past two decades, especially on the coaching sidelines, chances are you’ve come across Jenny Boucek.

Known for her groundbreaking work as both a WNBA and NBA coach, Boucek has carved out a career in a field still largely dominated by men.

However, beyond her on-court accomplishments, fans often wonder about her personal life, including her marriage, partner, and children.

Let’s dive into Boucek’s relationship status, her journey into single motherhood, and the personal strength that powers one of basketball’s most respected coaching minds.

Jenny Boucek Hasn’t Been Married And Doesn’t Have A Partner

No, Jenny Boucek is not married.

Despite her public visibility as an NBA coach, Boucek has chosen to keep most aspects of her personal life private.

There’s no public record or known evidence of a marriage or long-term romantic partner.

What’s clear, however, is that Boucek doesn’t rely on a partner for support, whether it is financial, emotional, or otherwise.

Fiercely independent, she has managed to build a high-profile coaching career while raising a daughter entirely on her own.

Instead of pursuing marriage or a traditional family life, Boucek has prioritized her passion for basketball, her coaching career, and, most importantly, her role as a mother.

Jenny Boucek Is A Single Mother Of Her Daughter, Born In 2018

Jenny Boucek may not be married, but she is a proud and devoted parent.

In 2018, just twelve days after accepting a role as assistant coach with the Dallas Mavericks, Boucek gave birth to her daughter, Rylie.

The journey to motherhood was achieved through in vitro fertilization (IVF), a deliberate and deeply personal decision made while balancing the demands of a high-level coaching job.

In fact, when Boucek first shared her pregnancy news, it was with her mentor and friend Rick Carlisle, then the Mavericks head coach, who responded not with hesitation, but with support.

Along with team owner Mark Cuban, Carlisle created a non-traveling role specifically for Boucek, allowing her to remain on staff while also spending critical early months at home with her newborn.

Boucek admitted,

I knew there was a scenario where this would cost me my dream of coaching in the NBA. I had to be OK with that.

It was a bold and risky move, but one that speaks volumes about Boucek’s determination to live life on her own terms.

Boucek doesn’t view parenting and coaching as separate worlds; they’re overlapping challenges that require many of the same skills.

She once said,

“You’re just doing that on steroids when you have your own kid.”

She calls her parenting style “live-in accountability,” where she applies her gift for motivation and development to both her team and her child.

In Case You Didn’t Know

  • Jenny Boucek comes from a medical family, as her grandfathers were involved in pioneering heart transplant surgery and founded Tulane’s psychiatry department.
  • She played college basketball at the University of Virginia, then professionally in the WNBA and Iceland, where she won championships and was named Foreign Player of the Year.
  • She made history as one of the first female NBA assistant coaches with the Sacramento Kings.
