A recent youth football game at Clearwater, Florida, has sparked concern over sportsmanship and behavior on the field, leaving MBU 13U players and coaches grappling with the aftermath.
Frank Lang, the president of Futurepros and offensive coordinator for MBU 13U, aka Countryside, took to social media to address the incident, emphasizing his commitment to teaching young athletes strong character, good grades, and a strong work ethic.
“Sportsmanship is at an all-time low,” Lang wrote. “Our boys got punished for other people’s actions. God, please help us.“
While Frank Lang didn’t provide details about the brawl, he further added:
“I am not blaming nobody about what happen yesterday, I understand shit happens. As a Coach, I dont want to see my players talk trash, taunt opp, or physically fight. I teach my players to have Great Character, Good Grades, and Great Work Ethic which will take them farther in Life then Football.”
Lang also stressed that football should be about skill, discipline, and respect.
“That negative stuff is straight evil. It’s just a sports game. Life is the real game. Win or lose in football, you still have tomorrow to try again. MBU 13U is hurt right now. We just want to play the game of football. In God we trust.”
He highlighted the importance of maintaining discipline both on and off the field.
Frank added that players cussing and playing dirty are not good; referees, coaches, parents, and security all have to do better.
“You smile at them one play and smash the gas on them the next. We coach boys to become men the legal way. We’ll play hard between the whistle, but it’s about football, not fighting.”
