Nick Herbig’s parents Bruce, and Robyn Herbig, raised three boys in Kaui, the fourth-largest island of Hawaii. Nate Herbig, the new signing of the Steelers, is his older brother.
Speaking on both her sons playing for the Steelers, their mom, Robyn, said the feeling hadn’t sunk yet. This is the first time the two brothers will play for the same team since their childhood days in Kaui.

For the two Herbig brothers, it’s nothing less than a fairytale. Nick was the fourth-round pick for the Steelers in the 2023 NFL Draft, and Nate signed as a free agent from the New York Jets.
The signing of Nick Herbig is already proving to be a hit among the Steelers fans, as they praised his performance in the two preseason games. Herbig will be used in rotation with TJ Watt and Alex Highsmith, with the former already taking him under his wings.
Nick Herbig Parents, Bruce, And Robyn Herbig
Nick Herbig’s parents Bruce, and Robyn Herbig, worked around the clock to raise three boys. The couple worked as teachers, picked up extra jobs to keep the family running and put meals on the table.
If Robyn took up a second job at Ross Dress for Less, then Bruce worked an extra job in adult education. Bruce and Robyn wanted three boys, and they got what they exactly wanted.
The boys get their competitive spirit from their father, Bruce Herbig. Among his three sons, the two youngest ones, Nick and Nate, were obsessed with football. So, fearing his two sons would face burnout, Bruce didn’t let them sign up for the sport.

But the father-of-three later bowed down to his sons’ wishes. Robyn and Bruce didn’t like sugarcoating stuff for the sake of their boys’ happiness.
The couple made sure their kids knew the level of their ability. In an interview with The Athletic in 2021, the couple revealed they had shifted to Madison with Nick and were living in the house’s basement.
Nick lived upstairs with his former teammates Kaden Johnson, and the couple called itself cave dwellers. Robyn is available on Instagram and has shared several pictures of her boys.
Nick Herbig Siblings, Jake, And Nate Herbig
Nick Herbig has two older siblings, Jake and Nate Herbig. Many of you might be familiar with the latter name, as Nate is also an NFL player for the Steelers.
But the big brother, Jake, has persuaded a different route in his career. Jake, 27, was born on July 26, 1996, and is a graphic designer in Dallas, Texas.
Jake graduated from the Academy of Art University with a degree in Web Design and New Media in 2020. He had previously enrolled in Nothern Arizona University before transferring to AAU.

In 2021, Jake joined Ampush as their UI/UX Designer and worked there for eight months. He then joined Citi, the investment banking company, in 2022 in the same position.
Since November 2022, Jake has been working with Gainwell Technologies as their product designer. Jake is available on Instagram but has kept his handle private. We receive updates on the older Herbig brother from his mother’s Instagram handle.
Nate Herbig Reunited With His Brother At Pittsburgh
The middle child of the Herbig family, Nate Herbig, was born on June 10, 1998. He shares an age gap of three years with Nick.
Growing up, Nick and Nate shared the same passion for football. The two brothers’ first team was Kauai Bulldogs, in which Nate worked on the defensive line, and Nick would rush in from the edge against the kids older than him.
Nate later earned the name “Nasty Nate” as he grew bigger and outgrown every competition on the small island. The offensive guard later moved to Honolulu, enrolling at Saint Louis School.

Coming out of Saint Louis, Nate was a three-star prospect and was the 45th-best offensive guard in the 2016 class. He accepted the scholarship to Stanford, and in his first year, Nate was named the freshman All-American.
In his sophomore and junior year, Nate was named to the All-Pac-12 first team, and in his junior year, he was also a Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention.
After his junior year, Nate announced he would forgo his senior year and declared for the 2019 NFL Draft. He went undrafted and signed as a free agent with the Eagles.
He played three seasons with the Eagles, starting in 17 games and playing in 33. He signed with the New York Jets in the 2022 season and played 11 games for them.
Nate signed a two-year contract with the Steelers earlier this year after being a free agent. Nate does have many doubters, and one of them is reporter Mike Tomlin who isn’t convinced with the new Steelers signing. So, Nate does have to address many skeptics in his fifth NFL season.
