A 22-year-old pitcher for the Regina Red Sox, Jesse Lubiniecki, passed away in a single-vehicle rollover crash in Rosebud County, Montana, on May 30, 2025.
Reportedly, Lubiniecki was returning home from his sophomore season at Taft Community College in California when the accident occurred.
The Regina Red Sox disclosed the heartbreaking news on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, as they expressed their grief.
Reportedly, the Red Sox announced their plan to honor Lubiniecki by wearing a “33” patch on their jerseys for the remainder of the season and held a moment of silence before their game against the Medicine Hat Mavericks on Tuesday night.
The 22-year-old baseball player, Jesse Lubiniecki, is survived by his parents,
Noel and Kim, fiancée Cathalyne aka Cathy Nunez, his brothers, Luke, Layne, and his grandmother, Brenda, his aunt Jenelle (Jason Meroniuk), and more.
So far, neither Noel nor Kim has broken their silence surrounding Jesse’s untimely demise.
He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Bernie Lubiniecki, and his uncle Matthew James Lubiniecki.

Team President Gary Brotzel shared the emotional toll of the loss, saying:
It slams you. I had a pit in my stomach the whole day. He pitched really good for us, and we were looking forward to having him back.
WCBL President Kevin Kvame also expressed condolences, stating, “We are incredibly saddened to hear of Jesse’s passing and extend our sincerest condolences to his family and loved ones during this terrible time.“
Jesse Lubiniecki’s Parents, Noel And Kim, Took Great Pride In His Growing Career!
Jesse Lubiniecki’s father, Noel, prefers to stay out of the spotlight, keeping a low-key life away from media attention. On the other hand, his mother, Kim Young, proudly shared his every milestone on her Facebook.
Kim didn’t just highlight Jesse’s achievements—she also shared moments from their family life, featuring his brothers as well. From time to time, she posted pictures of all three of her sons.
She documented important milestones in their lives, such as Jesse passing his driving test in 2019, his graduation from Martin Academy in 2021, and other significant moments after that.
Although Noel and Kim haven’t explicitly shown their pride in Jesse’s career, their actions showed how much they valued his journey in baseball. Unfortunately, his promising career was cut short at the age of 22.
Jesse Lubiniecki’s baseball journey had started in Regina, where he had sharpened his skills at Martin Academy before moving on to Prairie Baseball Academy in Lethbridge, Alberta.
In 2024, he joined the Regina Red Sox, a team in the Western Canadian Baseball League, halfway through the season.
Even though he arrived late, he quickly proved himself by playing in four games and playing a key role in the Red Sox’s first-place finish in the WCBL’s East Division.
His strong performances showed his ability to compete at a high level, earning the admiration of his teammates and coaches.

Outside his hometown, Lubiniecki had continued his college baseball career at Taft Community College in California, where he finished his sophomore season in 2025.
As a relief pitcher for the Taft Cougars, he played in 11 games, pitching 11 innings, and securing one win along with two saves.
Just a few weeks before his passing, Taft College Baseball celebrated a significant milestone in his career: his commitment to Florida National University in Miami. The program proudly stated that he was “taking his talents to South Beach.”
Lubiniecki, having trained at Martin Academy and Prairie Baseball Academy, was preparing for his second season with the Red Sox after first joining the team midway through 2024.
His skill on the field and dedication to the sport made him a promising player. Sadly, his dreams tragically came to an end with the devastating incident.
During this ordeal, we offer our heartfelt condolences to Jesse Lubiniecki’s parents, brothers, fiancée, friends, teammates, and extended family.
Rest In Heavenly Peace, Jesse Lubiniecki!
