A Rusk ISD parent is demanding accountability after her 14-year-old daughter was allegedly slapped in a classroom by a male student, sparking outrage among local parents and community members.

Samantha Hill, mother of the student, described the incident as part of a troubling pattern of bullying at the school.

According to Hill, her daughter, Sophie, has been physically assaulted twice on campus, leaving bruises.

The most recent incident occurred during sixth period when Sophie returned from the restroom to find a male student tampering with her belongings.

When she confronted him, the situation escalated, and the boy allegedly slapped her across the face while the teacher was present in the classroom.

Hill said neither she nor her daughter’s father received a call from the school following the incident.

Now the principal wants to cover his ass and the teacher’s ass by calling it horseplay, and my daughter could be in trouble,” Hill wrote on social media.

“I think not. How are we allowing 14-year-old girls to get hit by teenage boys?”

Hill also noted that the boy has continued to taunt her daughter in the hallways.

She urged other parents to come forward if their children have experienced similar incidents, describing this as far from “horseplay.”

The post has drawn widespread attention from the community, with numerous parents sharing their own experiences of bullying and school inaction.

Many expressed support for Hill, advising her to document incidents, involve law enforcement, and escalate concerns to the school board and local media.

Community members emphasized the need for stronger measures to protect students.

A boy should never be hitting a girl in the first place,” one parent wrote. “This school needs to be held accountable.

Rusk ISD has not yet publicly responded to the allegations.

Hill stated that she will continue to push for accountability and ensure her daughter’s safety, stressing that she will not allow the situation to go unresolved.
