South Bend, IN, Motivational Speaker, Health Coach and Mentor Dan Kuiper Dies Suddenly

South Bend, Indiana, lost a beloved community figure this week with the sudden passing of Dan Kuiper, a motivational speaker, author, and life and health coach who spent more than a decade helping men find purpose and healing.

Kuiper, a native of Highland, Indiana, had lived in South Bend since at least 2011, when he founded Finding Father’s Love, Inc., an organization built around empowering people to overcome the obstacles keeping them from living life fully.

Before that, he served as Director of Prevention and Education at New Leaf Resources. He was married to Janis Kuiper.

Kuiper was also closely tied to Battlecry International, a men’s ministry community where friends say he was more than just a participant; he was the heartbeat of the mission itself.

Friends Describe a Man Who Taught Others to Grieve and Grow

Tributes poured in across social media as news of his death spread. One friend credited Kuiper with helping him and other men discover their identity in their faith, adding that Kuiper also taught them how to grieve well, a skill that friends now find themselves leaning on.

Kuiper was remembered for his love of gardening, his devotion to God, and his loyalty to the Chicago White Sox, whom he followed enthusiastically.

Members of the Battlecry community described Kuiper as someone whose care for people, especially men struggling through difficult seasons of life, went far beyond a job description. One friend said the world was better with Kuiper in it, expressing hope that others could carry forward the example he set.

Others who knew Kuiper expressed a mix of grief and disbelief. One man wrote that he had spoken with Kuiper by phone just days earlier and still had a voicemail from him, saying he was cycling through anger, heartbreak, and shock all at once.

Community Continues to Process the Loss

Comments from friends and acquaintances continued to arrive throughout the week, many offering condolences to his wife and extended family, including relatives who posted their own tributes online. Several people described him simply as a great guy whose absence would be deeply felt.

No formal statement regarding funeral or memorial arrangements had been released at the time of this report. Kuiper is survived by his wife, Janis, along with extended family members.

Those who worked alongside him at Finding Father’s Love and Battlecry International say his influence will continue through the men he mentored and the programs he helped build, a legacy friends say reflected the mission he lived out every day rather than simply supported.
