Her passion for learning led her to Northeastern State College, where she earned her degree and laid the foundation for a career in education.
Ilene was a teacher, and her role defined her professional life as an educator.
She taught at The Lamplighter School in Dallas and later at the University of North Texas (UNT) Child Development Lab School.

Ilene faced her final years with the same grace, surrounded by her family and loved ones.
After Ilene’s death in 2014, her memorial service was held on January 10, 2015, at The Church of the Transfiguration in Dallas.
