Timothy Christian School’s Legendary Athletic Director and NJCA Hall of Famer William ‘Bill’ Bills Passes Away After a Courageous Battle With Cancer, Survived by Wife Karen and Family

Bill Bills, a New Jersey native and former Athletic Director, Coach, and Educator at Timothy Christian School, passed away this week, leaving his loved ones devastated.

Timothy Christian School took to its official social media to announce the news, stating that Bill Bills passed away quietly in his sleep.

The post further added that Bills was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer recently and was undergoing several treatments before his demise.

“Though many interventions were given, it seems that the Lord wanted Bill by His side. We rejoice that Bill is with his Savior, yet we are saddened as we will miss him dearly here on earth.”

William ‘Bill’ Bills touched the lives of many with his decades-long career as an Athletic Director and coach at Timothy Christian School.

He joined TCS in 1975 and served the school in different positions for 45 years.

Bills served as the Athletic Director of Timothy Christian Schools for 31 years and also won the hearts of many as a head coach for soccer (for 35 years), Basketball (23 years), and baseball (33 years).

Similarly, throughout his tenure as coach, William “Bill” Bills amassed an impressive overall record of 1,094 wins, 572 losses, and 22 ties across multiple sports.

In soccer, his teams achieved 411 wins, 147 losses, and 16 ties, showcasing consistent excellence on the field. On the basketball court, he guided his players to 352 victories against 186 defeats. In baseball, his teams compiled a record of 243 wins, while in softball, he oversaw a record of 16 wins.

He also led his team in six conference championships, three division titles, and won the honorable title of Area Coach of the Year.

Bill’s remarkable coaching career left a lasting legacy across all four sports at Timothy Christian School.

In addition to his journey as an athletic director and coach, Bills also served as the physical education teacher at TCS for decades, guiding students in their academic journey.

For his indescribable contribution to the New Jersey community and sports field, William ‘Bill’ Bills was inducted into the NJSCA Hall of Fame in 2014.

Bill Bills Leaves Behind His Longtime Wife, Karen, Son Matt, and The Entire Family

Bill Bills was not just an amazing athletic director and coach, but also a devoted husband to his longtime wife, Karen Bills, who dedicated decades to teaching and coaching at Timothy Christian School.

Bill’s wife, Karen Bills, began her career as a multisports women’s coach at TCS in 1976 and as a full-time teacher in 1977, where she served in her position for 44 years.

Throughout her tenure, Karen served as the girls’ varsity soccer, basketball, cheerleading, and softball coach, leading her teams to several victories. Karen accumulated an impressive overall record of 638 wins and 7 ties.

She led her soccer team to 152 wins, her basketball team to 268 wins, and her softball team to 218 wins.

Likewise, Bill and Karen Bills also raised their only son, Matthew ‘Matt’ Bills, to be an exceptional athlete.

Matt Bills, a graduate of Messiah University, where he excelled as a standout soccer player, was inducted into the Messiah University Athletics Hall of Honor in 2015.

Matt was a three-time All-Commonwealth player for the Messiah men’s soccer team. He was also the Commonwealth Player of the Year in both 2002 and 2003, and was named to the NSCAA First Team All-Region.

Similarly, he was a member of both the 2000 and 2002 NCAA Division III National Championship teams.

In addition to his wife and son, Bill Bills is survived by his daughter-in-law, Erin Bills, grandchildren, and the entire family.
