Terrance Floyd Obituary- The former Wisconsin Badgers cornerback, Terrance Floyd, passed away on January 17 at age 30. The former collegiate football player was currently a teacher.
Floyd was a star player during his high school days in Santaluces. He was a two-time team captain and lettered in football, basketball, and track and field. He was also named the Scholar-Athlete of the Year and was an honor-roll student.
The Wisconsin Badgers recruited Floyd in 2011, but Terrance was more utilized as a reserve player than a starter. He played 21 games for the Badgers in three years before graduating in 2015 with a sociology degree.
Floyd was the son of two former athletes, Verryl and Theresa, and his grandfather, Vernon, too was a football player. His older brother, LeVon, has paid tribute to his younger brother on his social media handle.

Terrance Floyd’s death has come as a shock to many. A native of Boynton Beach, Florida, Floyd played collegiate football with the Wisconsin Badgers.
A few websites have mentioned that the former cornerback passed away in a tragic motorbike accident, but credible sites like On3 and 247Sports haven’t reported Floyd’s death cause.
Floyd was rated a three-star recruit from Santaluces High School and was ranked the Nation’s 66 cornerback. In his high school career, Terrance recorded 1,820 yards, 11 touchdowns, 138 tackles, and seven interceptions.
In his senior year, Terrance was named team MVP and was part of the first-team all-district, all-conference, and all-county. Floyd was redshirted by the Badgers in 2011 and assumed a reserve role during his time in college.
He played 21 games for the Badgers in three years, recording six tackles. After graduating with a sociology degree in 2015, Terrance pursued a career as an elementary teacher in Florida.
Terrance completed his master’s also from the University of Wisconsin in Educational and Leadership and was teaching Physical Education at Palm Beach County School District.
Wisconsin’s football program shared the news of Terrance’s demise on their X handle. The statement read, “Our hearts and deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of Terrance Floyd.
After playing for the Badgers from 2011 to 2014, he went on to pursue his passion as an elementary school teacher in his home state of Florida. Rest in Peace, Terrance.”
The Teacher Came From An Athletic Family
Terrance Floyd came from an athletic bloodline. His dad, Verryl Floyd, played football at Florida A&M, and his mother, Theresa, is a former softball player.
Verryl played for Florida A&M from 1972-75 and later became a football coach at Boynton Beach. He retired from being a football coach in 2005 after 26 years at the helm.
During an interview, Verryl said he wanted to retire to spend more time with his sons and family. He also mentioned that he might be giving up on his football coach position but wanted to stay as a science teacher.
Before he became the football coach at Boynton Beach in 2001, Verryl was a coach at Atlantic. He coached the side for six years and even won a district title in 1999.
A few other places Verryl coached were Tallahassee FAMU High, Tallahassee Rickards, Port St. Lucie, and Fort Pierce Westwood.
Terrance’s mother, Theresa Burse-Floyd, played softball at Lake City Community College and later at Jacksonville University, where they won a national championship title.
Theresa later earned her master’s degree from Jacksonville University in physical education, and later in her life, she became a teacher.
Terrance also has an older brother named LeVon Floyd. LeVon has shared several tribute posts for his brother on his Facebook handle.
He shared the picture of Terrance from his graduation day and wrote a lengthy caption on how his brother had lived an admirable life. Later, LeVon also shared a highlight reel of Terrance from his days at Santaluces.
