Lois Ann Moore, G.A. Moore’s high school sweetheart and wife, remained faithfully by his side from their teenage years in Pilot Point to his final breath.
Gary Autry Moore Jr. was a legendary high school football coach in Texas, holding the record for the most wins in Texas high school football history.
Born in Mustang, Texas, on November 23, 1938, he coached at schools such as Pilot Point, Celina, and Sherman.
He was known for transforming small-town teams into state champions.
Tragically, he passed away on September 5, 2025, at the age of 86, surrounded by his family members.
G.A. Moore’s Devoted Wife and Pilot Point Alum, Lois Ann
Lois Ann Moore was Gary Moore’s high school sweetheart.
Lois was not just his life partner, but someone who shared his roots in Pilot Point.
She is a former literacy teacher at Celina ISD. She went to Pilot Point High School and later studied at Texas Woman’s University.
Moreover, she is known for being kind and supportive, always standing by her husband through his long coaching career and their life together.
They began dating in college and celebrated over 60 years of marriage by the time of his passing.
Together they had four children, three daughters and one son, Gary Don Moore.
While details about their daughters are not publicly available, it is known that their son, Gary Don, followed in his father’s footsteps.
He coached alongside his father at Celina and Pilot Point before continuing at Plano West and Plano East.
Sadly, Gary retired from coaching in 2005 after being diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease).
Then Moore underwent treatment for heart blockages and found renewed energy. He spent his later years on a 200-acre ranch near Pilot Point.
Additionally, he served as a pastor at Mustang Baptist Church.
Both G.A. Moore and his son, Gary Don, devoted their lives to coaching, and through it all, Lois Ann Moore stood quietly behind them.
Sending heartfelt prayers to the Moore family during this time of loss.
