Xu Jiayu | Personal Life

To start, this Chinese swimmer Xu Jiayu was born on 19th August 1995 in Zhejiang, China. Furthermore, he is the son of former swimmer Yu Zhenzhen.

In fact, it was his mother who taught him to swim from the age of four. Meanwhile, Zhenzhen, who specialized in the butterfly, raised Jiayu along with his sister Xu Si.

Accordingly, Jiayu completed his education at Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

Above all his contributions, Xu Jiayu is famous for his best performance in every 100-meters backstroke.

Nationals

On the contrary, Xu Jiayu started to shine when he broke the record on 100-meter backstroke. In the 2014 Chinese Spring National Championships, Jiayu set the world’s fastest time of the year.

The same year, winning the 50-meter backstroke, Jiayu ranked third among the world records.

World Championships

Starting from the year 2013, the swimmer won World Championships in London for the 200-meter backstroke. Similarly, in 2015, despite getting medals, Jiayu was left with the 3rd and 6th positions.

Subsequently, Xu finally made up to the top on his World Championships in Budapest, 2017.

There, Xu grabbed the gold medal. Meanwhile, in his tough competition, there were competitors like USA’s Matt Grevers and Ryan Murphy.
