Youth softball coach Shane Genetta’s wife, Mary Brunetti, is a registered nurse at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Retirement Services, Inc.
A Girard resident, Shane Genetta, 41, has been charged with two counts of rape stemming from an incident that allegedly happened on March 1, 2017.
Liberty Township Police arrested Shane Genetta on Friday, May 23, 2025, at Liberty Township Park.
He appeared through video before Judge Jeffrey Adler in Girard Court Monday for his preliminary hearing on two F1 counts of rape.
Judge Adler set Shane’s bail at $1 million.
As per the court filing, the felony charges show that the first felony charge he is facing is for a child under 13 years old, while the second felony charge is for an alleged force or threat of force.
If convicted, the charges could bring a life sentence because the alleged victim was under 13.
Genetta had been a softball coach at the Girard Youth Baseball Association.
21 News contacted the association’s president and vice president of softball to ask when they became aware of the allegations and what Genetta’s current status is, but did not get a response.
Genetta is scheduled to be in court for a preliminary hearing on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at 9 a.m.

Shane Genetta married Mary Brunetti, a Brookfield, Ohio, resident. However, their exact wedding date has not been revealed yet.
Mary has been staying quiet following the recent arrest of her husband, Shane.
According to Mary’s Facebook profile, she resides in Girard, Ohio, and attended Brookfield High School.
Since April 15, 2015, she has been serving as the registered nurse at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Retirement Services, Inc.
According to the source, Mary was born to her father, Ralph A. Brunetti, and her mother, Nancy Brunetti. She grew up with her supportive brother, Robert of Youngstown.
Ralph was a 1964 graduate of East High School and served his country during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army.
He worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a custodian, retiring after 30 years of service, and was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, the A.P.W.U. Local 443 and the Arco Club Bocce League.
Tragically, Ralph, born on May 10, 1945, passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2016, at 70.

Caylee Wilkes is a talented sophomore at Girard High School in Ohio (Class of 2027).
As a key player for the Girard varsity softball team, she posted an impressive .354 batting average and .451 on-base percentage and drove in 38 runs.
On the basketball court, Caylee averaged 12.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.8 steals per game.
As per Caylee’s LinkedIn handle, she graduated from the Ohio State University in 2021.
Gabriela and Faith have stayed out of the media spotlight, so little is known about their personal life.
