A 7th-grade student and junior high girls’ basketball player from Minnesota, Karmella McCollor, took her last breath untimely at home on December 20, 2025, at a young age of 13.

Karmella McCollor is survived by her parents, Sean and Penny McCollor, and sister, Ashley McCollor.
Likewise, she also leaves behind her grandfather, Michael Mickey McCollor, uncles Justin Kip McCollor and Jonathon McCollor, and extended family members.
Justin Kip McCollor, her uncle, expressed his grief, writing:
This one of the saddest events to happen in our family. Karmella was one of the sweetest most loving people I’ve ever met in my life. Please if you are able to help out my family in this time of tragedy it would be so appreciated.

Likewise, a sports photography named Allison Kate Photography wrote a brief tribute post, which reads:
🧡🖤There has been an unexpected passing of one of our 7th grade Cherry students, Karmella McCollor. The family transferred to Cherry this year. In their short time here, the family has become active in sports and other activities.

Meanwhile, a GoFundMe campaign has been created to help her family with her funeral arrangements.
The McCollor has yet to publish details surrounding Karmella’s demise as they are processing the grief.
During this difficult time, we pray for the strength of Karmella’s parents, sister, friends, teammates, and extended family.
