14-year-old Mulvane High School Basketball Player Reiley Torix, Passes Away Unexpectedly, Leaving Her Parents Jason and Kimberly Behind

The town of Mulvane, Kansas, is mourning the sudden loss of 14-year-old Reiley Jean Torix, a freshman and Mulvane High School athlete.

She is survived by her parents, Jason and Kimberly Torix; siblings, Laurance Smith, Amirra Torix, and Jamerson Torix; and grandparents, Terry Green, Roy, and Sherry Torix.

Torin left the world on October 9, 2025, at a very young age, but she left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her.

She was loved by all her family, friends, classmates, and teachers, and was known for her friendly behavior, bright smile, and gentle soul, who could make others feel seen, heard, and loved.

Torix’s love for both academics and sports was equal to those who enjoyed and excelled in sports, including basketball, wrestling, and soccer.

She was also quite passionate about performing arts and even aspired to become an actress.

It’s safe to say that she was truly one of a kind, combining multiple sets of skills at such a young age.

Torix Will Always be Remembered by those Who Knew Her Best!

Her impact will not be easily forgotten by people who were blessed by her kindness, humor, and energy.

She has already received hundreds of tributes from her family members, relatives, close friends, and numerous individuals.

BJ Tucker wrote, “Riley girl, you’re going to be missed dearly. Love you and forever, always in my heart. u were always my hype man for sure, haha. I miss you and love you… BJ aka (cutie), what you called me every time I saw you.”

Reiley’s aunt added, “There are no words to describe the pain that we are all experiencing as we lost the sweetest angel to walk the earth far too soon. Reiley Jean Torix gained her wings yesterday. She will be forever loved and missed.”

A memorial service to honor Reiley will take place at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, October 17, 2025, at Life Church, 2801 N. Buckner St., Derby, KS. A gathering will follow for friends and family to share memories and celebrate her life.

In this challenging phase, many individuals have asked how they can help the family. A Reiley Torix Memorial Fund has been established at Carson Bank to assist the Torix family with funeral costs.

Other initiatives, such as Meal Train and setting up a rental home for the family through Airbnb, have also begun. Any amount of help during this heartbreaking time will be greatly appreciated by the Torix family.
