Nikolai Krasnikov, the legendary 20-time Ice Speedway World Champion, tragically passed away in a car accident at the age of 40.
Nikolai Krasnikov, born on February 4, 1985, in Ufa, Russia, was a legendary Russian ice speedway racer, widely regarded as one of the greatest in the sport’s history.
He won eight consecutive Individual Ice Speedway World Championship titles from 2005 to 2012.
Also, he secured twelve Team Ice Racing World Championship titles with Russia between 2004 and 2016.

Tragically, Krasnikov passed away in a car accident on June 16, 2025, at the age of 40.
The accident occurred on the R-240 highway while he was traveling from Nizhnekamsk to Ufa.
Around 3:00 AM, his Lada Granta reportedly veered into the oncoming lane, leading to a collision with two trucks, a Gazelle, and a Sitrak.
The impact was severe, and Krasnikov succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Krasnikov’s passing has deeply affected his family and the ice speedway community.
Authorities are still investigating the exact cause of the accident, but preliminary reports suggest that road conditions and possible driver error may have played a role.
His daughter shared a heartfelt tribute on social media, expressing her grief and admiration for her father’s legacy.

Moreover, the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) released a statement mourning his loss, saying:

Krasnikov is survived by his partner, Alexandra, a young son, Vladimir, and a beloved daughter, Viktoria, both of whom he cherished deeply.
