The drag racing community was taken aback on February 2, 2025, by the tragic accident that claimed the life of 7-year-old Elienisse Zoe Diaz.
An aspiring drag racer, Elienisse Zoe Diaz, born to parents Sharryl Rodriguez and JRuben Lopez Diaz, breathed her last in February 2025 in a dragster accident.
This heartbreaking news came a couple of days after Elienisse had just celebrated her seventh birthday on January 30, 2025.
Her mother, Sharryl Rodriguez, had shared a post celebrating her 7th birthday, highlighting her interests and the special bond she shared with her family. The post reads,
🎉 It’s 7🎉 Today the one who leads us turns 7, 7 years of adrenaline, racing at home, the farmer (loves cows 🤦🏻 ♀️ ) the hyper who everyone thinks is so quiet and calm and at home is our hurricane cat 30! The boss of her brothers. My little spark, today you are 7 years old, how time flies wow. God bless you always and give you health and life to enjoy and achieve all your dreams!! The 7-year-old aspiring drag racer was making her first runs in a junior dragster during a test and tune event at Orlando Speed World Dragway.
However, the accident occurred while she was fulfilling her dream of racing. Meanwhile, her parents, Sharryl Rodriguez and JRuben Lopez Diaz, four siblings, and extended family are devastated by her loss.
Orlando Speed World Dragway took to their social media to share the heartbreaking news, writing a long eulogy that read,
We are deeply heartbroken by the tragic incident that took place at OSW on Sunday. Our thoughts and prayers are with Elienisse’s family, and all those affected, including our racing community.

“We stand together in support, mourning, and prayer during this difficult time. We extend our deepest condolences to those grieving and will continue to uplift them in our thoughts,” read the condolence post shared by Orlando Speed World Dragway.
The family has set up a GoFundMe fundraiser to help cover funeral costs and celebrate Elienisse’s life.
Young Aspiring Drag Racer Elienisse Zoe Diaz Was Born to a Die-Hard Racing Family in Tampa!
Elienisse Zoe Diaz was born on January 30, 2018, to Sharryl Rodriguez and J Ruben Lopez Diaz in Tampa. She relocated to Orlando, Florida, when she was an infant.
Born in a die-hard racing family, Elienisse’s grandfather, Wigo Diaz, owns and races a competitive Toyota Starlet.
Her father, J Ruben Lopez Diaz, owned an EG Honda Hatchback, and the father and daughter raced every chance they could get.
In her short-lived life of seven years, Elienisse had been to several race tracks and events like Atco Dragway, Orlando Speedworld, Salinas Speedway, Maple Grove Raceway, and more.
Her father, J Ruben Lopez Diaz’s car, was named after her, and her name was proudly represented across the front with her grandfather’s team name on the front bumper.
Elienisse had two elder brothers and an elder sister, Bryanna Martinez.
Devasted by her sister’s loss, Bryanna wrote, “my baby so beautiful she will always be my sister. I love you my candle. she will always be in my heart.“
Following her tragic demise, she changed her cover photo to Elienisse’s photo and has shared several tribute posts.
“My sweet angel! Mommy will always love you forever! Mi fiebrua a las 10:54pm febrero 4 2025 el cielo gano un angel!” mother Sharryl Rodriguez wrote on her Facebook.
