Jose Maria Olazabal Manterola, better known as Jose Maria Olazabal, was born to his parents, Gasper and Julia Olazabal, on February 5, 1966, in Hondarribia, Spain.
The golf club named Real Golf Club de San Sabastian, which was established just before Jose’s birth, became his practice spot since he was a kid.
His dad, Gasper, was a greenskeeper at the golf club near their house. Before him, Jose’s grandfather was also a greenkeeper at the same course. Similarly, his mom, Julia, also used to work there.
Raised alongside his sisters in Basque Country, Jose started playing with golf balls when he was two. He spent his afternoon practicing his game on the course since he was six.
