It was Rick Stockstill, the father of Brent Stockstill, who was fired from his job in November of 2023.

Brent Forrest Stockstill is a former American football player who works as a quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator at Middle Tennessee State.
Stockstill attended Siegel High School in Tennessee, where he threw for 2,690 yards and 32 touchdowns in his senior year.
A former quarterback at Middle Tennesee, he set multiple career program records for passing yards, touchdown passes, completed passes, and pass attempts.
Moreover, he played baseball at Middle Tennessee State as a pitcher and compiled a 1.69 ERA in 2014.
After his playing career, Stockstill began his coaching career at Florida Atlantic in 2019. He later served as an offensive quality control analyst at South Florida in 2020.
Furthermore, in 2021, Stockstill returned to his alma mater as the wide receivers coach. In 2022, he was reassigned to quarterbacks coach and added the title of passing game coordinator.

Brent Stockstill, the Quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator for the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders football team, is still employed.
However, according to a statement from the university, his father, Rick Stockstill, was fired from his position as the Head Coach of the Blue Raiders in November 2023.
Some people have mistakenly assumed that Brent is also unemployed and looking for a job due to the confusion between the two names.
MTSU will owe Rick Stockstill a buyout of approximately $5 million.
This amount will be paid out over the remaining term of the deal until December 31, 2029, despite having a contract through that season.
This buyout is one of the largest in the Group of Five, if not the largest.
As the fourth-longest tenured head coach in the country and the third-longest in Blue Raider history, Stockstill had a record of 113-111 in 18 seasons.
He led MTSU to 10 bowl appearances, a 2006 Sun Belt Conference (split) championship, and a 2018 Conference USA title game appearance.
Brent Stockstill’s Personal Life And Family
Brent Stockstill was born to Rick and Sara Stockstill in South Carolina. At that time, Rick was serving as an assistant coach at Clemson.
Brent has a younger sister, Emily, who attended the University of Alabama and worked for the university’s football program.
In 2005, the Stockstills relocated to Murfreesboro, Tennessee, after Rick was appointed head coach at Middle Tennessee State.
Moving onto Brent’s wedding, he and Jessica Stockstill originally planned to get married in Nashville, Tennessee.
However, due to the pandemic and restrictions, they moved the wedding to Tampa, Florida.
Most of their family lived in Tampa, which made it a more practical location. The couple married on June 20, 2020, on the steps of a hotel.
They exchanged rings and vows before their closest family and friends, who all watched with tears. Furthermore, they have a daughter named Skye.
