The University of South Florida, where Amir Abdur-Rahim was working as its head coach, announced his passing by writing, “All of us with South Florida Athletics are grieving with the loved ones of Coach Abdur-Rahim.”
Further, they also said that even though the great coach is no longer with us, his lasting impact on our student-athletes, the University, and the community will be immortal.

Arianne Buchanan, a Law professor, first locked eyes with college basketball coach Amir at a friend’s house on the fourth of July. After their first meeting, they began their relationship.
Amir proposed to Arianne Buchanan during Thanksgiving, and after nine months of their engagement, they tied the knot on August 4, 2012.
Their wedding ceremony was held at Acqualina Resort & Spa in Miami, Florida. The couple had a four-year gap, as Amir Abdur-Rahim was 31 years old, and his wife, Arianne Buchanan, was 27 at the time of their marriage.
Talking about the personal and professional life of Arianne Buchanan, she has been working as a research and contract attorney at a law firm, Murphy Legal, since 2017.
Previously, she served as an insurance defense litigator, compliance officer, and contract attorney for law firms and private institutions in Florida, South Carolina, and Texas.
