After High School, Austin Threw Himself Into His Career With The Same Passion He Brought To Sports
He started as a farmhand at Raleen Farms, working the land for over two years.
From there, he took on roles as a maintenance mechanic and carman at Watco Companies LLC, followed by a stint as a welder at Ketcham’s Sheep Equipment.
Since 2017, Austin has been a lead carman at Metro East Industries in East St. Louis, Illinois.
His coworkers admire his work ethic and his ability to lighten the mood, even on the toughest days.
Austin’s greatest joy was his wife, Paige Monetti. The couple married on October 18, 2020, in a ceremony filled with love and celebration.
Austin and Paige have been together since 2018.
Paige, a dedicated nurse at Mercy Heart Hospital South and Alton Memorial Hospital, also runs Poppin’ Parties with Paige, bringing joy to others through her event planning.
Austin and Paige were inseparable, building a life full of shared dreams and quiet moments.
Paige’s heartbreak after the Austin Monetti accident has moved everyone close to her.
Austin’s bond with his brother, Brandon, was unbreakable.

“Just a few days ago, we were talking and laughing like always. I still can’t believe you’re gone. Austin Monetti… we started jiu-jitsu at the same time. We trained side by side for years. If I have any skill in jiu-jitsu, it’s because of you. We spent countless hours on those mats, grinding, learning, joking between rounds.

Austin’s positivity was a light in the gym, his smile a constant even on the hardest days.

Austin is survived by his wife, Paige, his parents, Rhonda and Gene, his brother, Brandon, and many other loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Mildred Bohenestiehl, who no doubt welcomed him with open arms.
