Shane Tamura, a 27-year-old former high school footballer, opened fire inside a high-rise corporate building in Manhattan and took four lives.

He acted alone and died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. According to the officials, his motive hasn’t been disclosed.

Authorities have named Shane Devon Tamura as the suspect in a deadly shooting in Midtown Manhattan that left four people dead.

He was wearing body armor and entered an office building armed with a high-powered rifle and opened fire.

Records indicate Tamura had recently lived in Las Vegas, where he obtained a concealed firearms permit from the Las Vegas Police Department. He was also previously issued a work card by the Nevada Private Investigators Licensing Board, though it has since expired.

Police were seen gathering near entrances at his last known residence as part of the investigation. Law enforcement is working to determine Tamura’s motive and whether he had any prior connection to the Manhattan office building.

As details continue to emerge, authorities are urging anyone with information about Tamura’s recent activities to come forward. The shooting has once again ignited debates over gun control and public safety in major U.S. cities.

Shane Tamura Was Never a TroubleMaker

Friends and former teammates remember Shane Tamura as a lively, fun-loving guy, and the kind of person who brought energy and laughter wherever he went.

Caleb Clarke, a former high school football teammate, described Tamura as the biggest goofball in the world, a class clown who kept everyone around him smiling.

Tamura and Clarke played football together in California before Tamura transferred to Granada Hills High School for his senior year in 2015.

Although they eventually lost touch in person, Clarke followed Tamura’s life through social media, where he shared updates about working at a casino in Las Vegas.

Clarke never considered Tamura to be violent or troublesome.

You never would have thought violence was something you’d associate with him. You know, he could make a joke about people, but that’s just typical. Shane was a jokester. Everything he said was a joke. He had a ton of energy.

Beyond his humor, Tamura had undeniable athletic talent. Clarke believed he had the potential to achieve greatness in sports.

I feel like it was definitely on the table for him. I don’t think he walked around to be like, ‘Oh, I’ll have NFL games one day.’ I think it was more of everybody just telling him how great he was … how special he was.
