The Wapakoneta community is coming together after Jerimiah Essex was hit by a truck while riding his scooter at an estimated speed of 35–40 mph.
The accident left him with a fractured skull and a few small brain bleeds, but doctors believe the injuries will heal on their own with time and care.
Jerimiah’s mother, Taylor Nichole Essex, shared updates on social media, asking friends and loved ones to continue praying for her son.
“Please pray for my boy… he was hit by a truck today on his scooter,” she wrote.
“He is not out of the woods by any means, but he is putting up some kind of fight when being messed up by the doctors.”

Following the accident, Jerimiah was transported to Columbus for further medical care.
Taylor expressed gratitude for the love and prayers pouring in, while asking for patience and understanding as the family navigates the difficult days ahead.
The accident has sparked a wave of support from friends, family, and neighbors. Messages of encouragement and prayer have flooded social media.
“You guys got this momma! He’s strong! ❤️ Praying for y’all,” wrote Candice Streets.
Another friend, Eva Schultz, shared that she and her children prayed as they saw the medical helicopter transporting Jerimiah to the hospital.
Local sports families also rallied around the Essex family. In a post from the Celina Bulldogs Parents Group, supporters called for prayers for Jerimiah, who plays football with the Wapakoneta Redskins.
“Prayer for #68 Jeremiah Essex,” the group wrote.
“He was struck by a truck while on his scooter. Prayers to the young man and his family.”

Using the hashtag #ESSEXSTRONG, supporters continue to lift up Jerimiah and his family with encouragement and faith.
Many described him as a strong young man who would come out of this challenge even stronger.
Taylor Essex thanked everyone for their prayers and reminded the community that their support means more than words can express.
“This is hard enough for the entire family,” she said,
“but I will try my best to keep everyone updated. Thank you for the prayers and all the love.”
