The tragic passing of 19-year-old Colbi Blanchard from Thibodaux, Louisiana, has left his family, friends, and community grieving.
Following a devastating crash in Iberia Parish, Colbi’s parents faced an unimaginable loss but chose to honor his legacy through strength, faith, and selflessness.
On Tuesday, Colbi was riding as a passenger in a vehicle traveling west on Highway 90 near the Highway 675 off-ramp.
For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle veered into a painted gore area and collided with a stopped Commercial Motor Vehicle.
The crash left Colbi and the driver with severe injuries, while the CMV driver sustained minor injuries.
All three individuals were rushed to the hospital, but days later, on August 30, Colbi succumbed to his injuries.
Louisiana State Police reported that driver fatigue is suspected to have contributed to the crash, once again emphasizing the dangers of drowsy driving.
Colbi’s mother, Jessica Blanchard, shared a touching message after her son’s passing, thanking the community for the love and prayers poured into their family during this difficult time.
She revealed that Colbi passed away peacefully at 10:13 a.m., surrounded by his mother and his nanny. Jessica wrote,
“Unfortunately, Colbi fought as hard as he could, he just couldn’t make it back. This miracle we have all been praying for was not our miracle to receive but our miracle to give.”
