The Oakland University community is grieving the sudden death of Glenn McIntosh, Senior Vice President for Student Affairs and Chief Diversity Officer.
McIntosh, known for his unwavering dedication to students and colleagues, passed away unexpectedly, leaving a profound impact on everyone who knew him.
McIntosh’s colleagues and students remember him not only as a skilled administrator but as a mentor, guide, and friend.
“One of the very best people I have ever known was unexpectedly taken from us far too soon,” shared Brandy Miriam Rachel.
“He mentored countless students and colleagues, and he changed many lives. In many ways, he was the heart of our university.”

Students echoed these sentiments, recalling how McIntosh went above and beyond to support them personally and academically.
Alexis Jordan recounted a touching memory from her graduation day:
He was such an amazing person, and I’m grateful to say I knew him. He was always there for me—even on graduation day when my row didn’t get called, he texted my dad that he hadn’t seen me walk. Needless to say, he made sure my row got called, watched me cross the stage, and even snapped a few pictures. My heart goes out to his family

Faculty and staff remember McIntosh as a compassionate leader who invested in the growth and well-being of everyone around him.
Stephanie Bahoura described him as a father figure, counselor, and inspiration.
“Even after graduation, I worked at OU and we would have conversations about life, education, and how to make a difference in the world,” she shared.
“Dean Mac made a difference. He inspired me and challenged me to always do better and be better.”

Oakland University Student Congress (OUSC) expressed deep sorrow over his passing, highlighting his leadership, kindness, and dedication to students.
“Vice President McIntosh’s impact will be felt for generations, and his memory will remain a guiding light for the Oakland University community,” the organization stated.
McIntosh’s influence extended beyond campus. Gee Que Glenn reflected on his role as both an educational leader and a man of Omega Psi Phi fraternity, while David Coulter emphasized McIntosh’s love for his family, friends, and community.
“His passing leaves a deep hole in our hearts, softened only by the knowledge that his vision, compassion, and strength will forever guide those he touched,” Coulter said.
Glenn McIntosh’s legacy as a mentor, advocate, and friend will continue to inspire the Oakland University community and beyond.
He will be remembered for his kindness, wisdom, and the countless lives he uplifted throughout his career.
