A Czechoslovakian family living in Melbourne, Florida, is facing a challenging period after ICE detained their dad, a baseball player, despite his holding a green card.
Ingrid Baldwin Egeli, a community member, has stepped in to help the family by sharing a heartfelt post on GoFundMe.
According to Ingrid, the Czechoslovakian family has always been there for others when help was needed, and now it is time for the community to return the support.
Czechoslovakian Family Needs Florida Community’s Help to Bring Back Their Dad, Who Is Detained by ICE Despite Having a Green Card!
The Czechoslovakian family has been living in the Florida community for 15 years, contributing to society, working hard, and paying taxes.
According to a GoFundMe post, the family has three incredible children: one is an artist, another is a gifted mathematician in elementary school, and the youngest plays baseball.
Although the family has been living with a valid green card, the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency has detained the father.
With no guardian in the family, the Czechoslovakian family is facing a very difficult situation.
However, living in a supportive community, the family has received funds and help from their neighbors.
While community members have shared their thoughts and support, some are frustrated with ICE’s decision to detain the father despite his green card.
One community member wrote on Facebook:
BREVARD …. please join me and send a go fund donation to the family in this post. They have been productive and involved community members in Melbourne FL and now their lives have been turned upside down. He is Czechoslovakian….. hard working and does not deserve this mistreatment. They took him and would not say where they were talking him……. Come on…. That is KIDNAPPING ….. we are better than this America! If you feel as strongly as I do about due process and human rights and dignity, please help this family our county. Any small or large donation will help them to secure legal representation. THIS IS WRONG !
Moreover, the family is facing significant legal fees due to ICE, so community members have asked everyone who can to help fund the family.
While the family has been receiving support from the community, it may not be enough. The Florida community is seeking help from everyone willing to assist those in need.
As of this writing, the family has received over $2,000 in donations through GoFundMe, and the goal is to reach $15,000.
