The chips caused third-degree chemical burns across football player Isaiah Barnett’s lips and all over his mouth, with severe ulcers covering the inside of his mouth.
Isaiah Barnett became the first-ever football camper of the week at the Renegades football club.
The Renegades football club took to their official Facebook handle and congratulated Isaiah by stating,
I would like to introduce Isaiah Barnett as our first ever football camper of the week. This is something new the Renegades are doing to recognize kids who are performing at a high level and working hard to improve. Great job Isaiah!

Born on January 4, 2012, Isaiah was raised single-handedly by his mother, Britiany Barnett. On January 4, 2025, Britiany wished Isaiah a happy 13th birthday. She wrote,

Football Player Isaiah Barnett Suffered A Severe Injury Due To Takis Potato Chips
Isaiah Barnett was admitted to Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital after a popular snack named Takis Potato chips caused him serious injuries.
On July 7, 2025, Isaiah’s mother took to her Facebook to announce the news. She wrote,
PLEASE SAY A PRAYER FOR MY FATTY BABY ISAIAH . HE HAS CHEMICALLY BURNT HIS MOUTH REAAAAAALLLLYY BAD EATING TAKIS. AND ITS BEEN ROUGH 2 WEEKS ALREADY, AND THEY SAY ITS GOING TO GET UGLY BEFORE IT GETS BETTER ! WE GOT ABOUT A MONTH OF HEALING AHEAD OF US AND NOW HE IS SPIKING A FEVER WHICH AINT GOOD ! It was excruciating for Isaiah to swallow, and he had to be fed with a syringe and tube.
On July 10, 2025, Britiany posted a photo of feeding Isaiah through a tube and syringe. She captioned,
THIS IS HOW HE HAS TO DRINK ANYTHING, WITH A TUBE AND SYRINGE. BREAKING MY HEART TO SEE HIM HAVE TO FIGHT JUST TO SWALLOW LIQUIDS. THANK GOD FOR A PLAY STATION , CUZ I NEED A NAP 😭😭

The skin of his lips was falling off as soon as new skin grew back from the burns.
Isaiah’s family said that once he is discharged, they will visit doctors to consult and determine the next steps for his recovery.
Their health insurance has also been canceled, so they have to pay for those visits out of their pocket.
Amanda Lavigne from Gonzalez, Florida, organized a fundraising campaign on GoFundMe to help Isaiah’s family pay the medical bills.
The campaign aims to collect around $3.5k, but it has only collected $1,095.
Isaiah’s family stated that he is not the first person to be injured by that product. They hoped to spread awareness and would share the walk with their Faith and Trust in God through the whole journey.
Recently, Isiah’s mother took to her official Facebook handle and announced that he is ulcer-free and steroids are working. She wrote,
ARE YALL READY FOR THIS UPDATE!!! 🙌🏼 HE IS ULCER FREEEEEEEEEEE 🙌🏼 STEROIDS ARE WORKING. ANNNDD WE MIGHT BE ABLE TO GO HOME TODAY IF WE CAN EAT AND KEEP IT DOWN! WHEW GOD IS A GOOD GOD !! AND SO FAR NO UNDER LINING ISSUES !!

- Isaiah’s mother, Britiany Barnett, is originally from Cantonment, Florida, but lives in Mobile, Alabama, United States. Her mother, Jannice Elisabeth Aldridge Barnett, was a transport driver at Escambia County Public Schools and also served as a trainer at the Escambia County School District Transportation Department.
