A Proud Alumnus And Basketball Coach Of Hall Summit High School Billy Lee Davis, Passes Away, Leaving A Lasting Legacy!

Legendary coach and teacher Billy Lee Davis passed away on July 23, 2025, at the age of 89, leaving behind his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

However, the cause of his death remains undisclosed, and no medical or family statements have been made public.

Billy Lee Davis Was A Guiding Light In The Hall Summit Community!

William “Billy” Lee Davis Sr. was a respected educator, former basketball coach, and community leader at Hall Summit High School in Louisiana.

A Hall Summit alumnus himself, Davis went on to pursue higher education. Later, he returned to serve as a teacher, principal, and head basketball coach at his alma mater.

During his coaching career, he helped many young players grow and succeed.

His hard work in both education and sports earned him respect and praise in the community.

In addition to his work at school, he also served as a pastor, hospital chaplain, deacon, and missionary. He spent his life helping and guiding others.

Billy Lee’s passing has left a void in the hearts of his family and the entire community.

The entire Hall Summit and Ringgold community is mourning the loss of the coach.

Former students, athletes, church members, and neighbors have been sharing heartfelt messages and memories, describing him as a guiding light.

One of Davis’s well-wishers paid heartfelt tribute, saying:

Bro Billy was a special man, an inspiration to everyone who knew him. Im so blessed to be one of them. Love ang hugs for his family.

Some called him a “pillar of the community,” while others said his legacy will live on through the generations he inspired.

Billy Lee Davis Sr., lovingly known as “Papa,” was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Melba Davis; his beloved wife, Bettie Ann Davis; and his sisters, Virginia Adams, Dorothy Keller, and Margaret Wood.

He is survived by a loving family who will forever cherish his memory: his sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Teresa Davis, and Tony and Judy Davis.

Moreover, he leaves behind his daughter and son-in-law, Becky and James Weaver, along with nine grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Visitation for Davis will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Rockett Funeral Home in Ringgold, Louisiana.

Additionally, funeral services will be held the following day, Saturday, July 26, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Social Springs Baptist Church in Ringgold.
