American Pop Star Rihanna’s 36-year-old boyfriend A$AP Rocky, who has been working in the music world as a rapper, singer, and songwriter since 2007, is all set to widen his professional horizon by stepping into the sports world, buying the Tranmere Rovers Football Club.

Rocky reportedly is part of the investment group led by celebrity lawyer and Donald Trump’s former representative Joe Tacopina, who has reportedly been negotiating with the Tranmere Rovers Football club to buy 80% of its stake for around £15 million for over six months.

However, the deal has yet to get regulatory approval from the EFL, and after the confirmation of the deal, A$AP Rocky will attend games at Prenton Park.

According to the Sun reports, an associate group stated,

Rocky is tight with Joe and has committed to the Tranmere bid. Joe has been to Tranmere matches and Rocky has plans to go over too after the deal is completed. We may even see Rihanna watching League Two football.

The source also claimed that Joe is quite optimistic about Football League Two’s Tranmere Rovers since he has watched the changes in Wrexham A.F.C’s journey from non-league to the top of the league after Hollywood duo Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds bought it in 2020.

So, Joe viewed Tranmere Rovers as capable of transformation by changing some strategies, and Rocky’s joining the group has apparently been seen as an advantage for his plan.

Joe thinks Tranmere — a famous club, near to Liverpool — is undervalued and that by clever marketing and celebrity endorsement he can transform it. With the likes of Rocky on board, maybe so.

Though this is the first time that the rapper A$AP Rocky’s name has popped up as an investor in any football club, Joe Tacopina is an experienced man in this matter.

Joe previously held executive positions at the four Italian football clubs. In 2011, he had an involvemnet with the US group headed by American entrepreneur Thomas R. DiBenedetto, which bought the Italian football club A.S. Roma.

Likewise, A$AP Rocky’s reported partner for his new venture also bought an Italian Football Club, Venezia F.C., in October 2015, and in 2021, he owned Italian football club S.P.A.L.

Well, partnering with such an expert, A$AP Rocky appears to have made a good decision, especially in his early stage of investing in the football arena.

In Case You Didn’t Know

  • A$AP Rocky was born ‘Rakim Athelaston Mayers‘ on Oc tober 3, 1988, in the Harlem neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City.
  • Joe Tacopina, on the other hand, is a Brooklyn native. He was born on April 14, 1996, and will be 58 in 2024.
  • Joe defended A$AP Rocky in his two charges of allegedly using a firearm upon fellow rapper A$AP Relli. After that, the deal between them made a way, reports say.
