Aberdeen Football Coach Targets Football Player for Transferring to Montesano While His Mother Battled Cancer!

Coach tells college kid he’s banned from Thanksgiving Turkey Bowl just because he switched schools.

Kimberley Sue Hale, a mother from Aberdeen, took to Facebook to rant about how the Aberdeen high school football coach treated her son, Marcus, after he had to switch schools while she was fighting cancer.

Two years ago, Kimberley was fighting cancer. She was a single mother going through chemo and radiation.

In no time, things got so hard that her son Marcus started struggling at school, if not on the football team, too.

Kimberley felt that Marcus needed more support from the family during that time.

Hence, the family decided the best thing for Marcus was to move in with his older brother and finish high school at Montesano so he would have more help while she recovered and finished her radiation and chemo treatments.

The Aberdeen coach didn’t like that one bit. He sent Marcus texts saying he was “disappointed” and even made up a story that Montesano had been scouting him.

After Marcus left, the coach held a team meeting, talking about the next season “without Marcus,” and then erased all of Marcus’s game film so colleges couldn’t see it.

While all things happened in a matter of time, Marcus was heartbroken to leave the teammates and brothers he had played with since kindergarten.

During his time at Aberdeen High School, Marcus never got in trouble, not even once, from preschool all the way to his junior year.

And here’s where things crossed the line. Every Thanksgiving, the kids in town play a fun pickup football game called the “Turkey Bowl” on the Aberdeen field. It’s not a school thing, just friends and family messing around.

This year, Marcus came home from college and went with his brother to play like he always does. However, the same Aberdeen coach walked up and told Marcus he wasn’t allowed on the field anymore.

Kimberley wrote that the only reason was that Marcus had transferred to Montesano while his mom was battling cancer.

She says that her son Marcus gave everything to that school from preschool to junior year, stayed loyal even after he left, and never caused problems.

Kimberley is furious that a grown man who is supposed to be a role model would punish a kid for trying to keep his life together while his mother fought for hers.

For a coach to treat a kid like that during and after one of the hardest periods of his life is absolutely unacceptable,” Kimberley ended the post.

Many supported her after the post went live. A comment read:

That’s a bad coach to treat any young man like that shame on him……

Jeanne Belden Galloway penned:

Not the kind of leadership a parent wants for their child! Shame on this coach! Thankfully Marcus is a better person because of the strength of his family! Love you all
