Acaden Lewis is one of the most electrifying basketball talents in the Class of 2025, standing out as a premier point guard and a coveted recruit nationwide.
His parents, Jarrett Lewis and Nateya Pompeo, helped him grow into the man and sportsperson he is today.
Originally committed to the University of Kentucky, Lewis recently decided to re-open his recruitment, sparking interest from elite college basketball programs.
He ranked among the top players in his class and received impressive offers from prestigious programs like Duke, North Carolina, and UConn.
A graduate of Sidwell Friends School in Maryland, he solidified his status as a dominant force by earning 2024 Gatorade Player of the Year honors for the District of Columbia as a junior.
After much discussion with his family and the people he trusted, he decided to decommit from the Kentucky Wildcats on April 10, 2025, for the best of his future.
With his elite playmaking, scoring ability, and defensive tenacity, he is poised to make an immediate impact at the next level, wherever he chooses to play.
I will always be grateful to Coach Pope and the entire Kentucky staff for believing in me.It is clear Kentucky is a special place with an amazing fanbase, but as I reflect on what is best for my future, I have decided to re-open my recruitment. This was an incredibly difficult decision, but after a lot of discussion with my family and people I trust, I feel this is necessary. This is not in any way a reflection of any negative feelings towards Coach Pope and Kentucky. I appreciate your understanding and am excited for what the future holds.

Acaden Lewis’s Father, Jarrett Lewis, Played Basketball
Jarrett Lewis, Acaden’s father, overcame a challenging childhood on Detroit’s west side, where his parents battled addiction and incarceration.
Through the hardships, he found strength in the unwavering love of his aunt and the guiding presence of his grandfather, Robert James Lewis, his guardian angel and rock.
Jarrett had a close bond with Robert, and they loved spending time together, listening to stories, and soaking in wisdom.
His grandfather was an entrepreneur with numerous side hustles and worked on the assembly line at the Ford Motor plant.
Although Jarrett was a bright student, Detroit public and Catholic schools expelled him for fighting. Later, he enrolled in an elite private school, Detroit Country Day.
Robert, who paid his formidable tuition bill, passed away towards the end of eighth grade and told the head of the school’s wife, Jenny Hanson, that his family would not be able to afford the bill.
Afterward, financial aid reached out to him and awarded him a full scholarship, a life-altering experience.
At Detroit Country Day, he developed a love for basketball and joined the varsity team as a sophomore. He played for three straight state championship teams.
After graduation, Jarrett Lewis worked in Finance in New York City, which required constant travel to Washington, DC.
After work, he stepped into a popular nightclub for drinks, where he encountered a captivating bartender, Nateya Pomeo, who would change his life in ways he never saw coming.
Acaden Lewis’s Mother, Nateya Pomeo, Is A DJ
Acaden’s mother, Nateya Pomeo, was born in New York City and raised in Long Island and Brooklyn. Later, her parents moved to the rural town of Newmarket, Virginia.
After high school, she was determined to strike out independently and dreamed of doing big things.
Nateya moved into her place at 18 and worked part-time at James Madison University. She also served as a waitress and won bathing suit and modeling competitions.
She never thought she would move back in with her parents. With a determined, hustler mindset and a constant eye toward the future, she stayed afloat.
At 23, she liked the vibes of Baltimore’s Fells Point neighborhood and took a job styling models for an agency that put on fashion shows. However, the agency shut down after 8 months.
Afterward, she became a bartender and worked shifts at DC’s hottest bars and clubs, such as LUV, Dream, Platinum, H2O, and Abiza.
That was when she met with Acaden’s father, Jarrett Lewis, and they began seeing each other. Shortly after, she got pregnant, and the couple stayed together for two years after Acaden was born.
After breaking up with Jarrett, she began her career as a DJ. Her father was also a DJ, and she knew she could add something musically and artistically to the local scene.
She changed her name to DJ Farrah Flosscett and became one of DC’s most sought-after turntable artists.
