Tyler Leply, the former Central Bucks High School West Football player and actor, best known for his role as Spencer in the TV series The Haves and the Have Nots on the Oprah Winfrey Network, was raised by his mother, Jennifer Lepley, and stepfather Charles Dinnis.

Tyler is of mixed ethnicity, as his mother is of Italian descent, and his biological father has Jamaican roots.

Charles, the stepfather, has been in Tyler’s life since he was just 6 and has been a pillar of support alongside his wife in establishing where Tyler is now.

More than Just A Stepfather

Lepley also played under the name Tyler Dinnis, suggesting the influence his stepfather had on his growth.

Due to his excellent time at High School, he earned a scholarship at Kutztown University, where he continued to play as a running back until 2007. He also excelled in basketball and track, helping him establish himself as a three-sport athlete.

Although Tyler started as a standout Athlete, his career was cut short due to the effects of injuries he had sustained since 2003, and he chose to focus on modeling and acting.

Tyler’s parents, who have been together for 38 years now, have been a constant source of support from his time as an athlete to making it as a Movie Star.

The actor is also often seen enjoying time out with his parents, whether it be on a beach, at a family dinner, or on a movie night.

Tyler’s mom is quite active on social media, surprisingly more so than Tyler, and often posts about her family time with the Movie star and her husband, and her son’s achievements and nominations.

When Tyler was nominated for the NAACP Image Awards’ Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, she even urged others to cast their vote and was happy his work was getting valued.

She wrote, “So happy for you Tyler that your hard work is getting recognized. Wishing you all the best. Love, Dad & Mom.” The family also celebrated Tyler’s birthday last time out in March 2024.
